PATCH CONTENTS
For 3.3.5, WotLK. 2x the resolution AI upscales for tens of thousands of textures covering almost the full game. Upscales have been completely redone in 8.0 by pulling all textures from the 4.3.4 client and upscaling with a model that does not overly smooth. Creatures, mounts, armor, clothing, weapons, world, water, plants/trees. Retro-ported tree models, creatures, characters to upgrade the trees and bushes/plants in 32 Vanilla/TBC zones with much higher quality models that still fit the theme of the original areas' trees.
World, armor, npc textures are now sorted and repacked into their original compression types as assigned by blizzard in order to reduce the size of the patch, though the patch has grown overall due to higher resolution npc textures in this version.
Also included are patches for increased view distance by pushing back the distance fog completely obscures objects at.
Tree Replacer Map Edits: Terrain paint on cliffs at zone edges blended to tidy up the increased view distance in Darkshore, Felwood, Winterspring, Azshara, Moonglade, Thousand Needles, Arathi Highlands, Searing Gorge, Burning Steppes, Blasted Lands. Adds snow to blend the transitions better in some areas.
Adjusted object positions/models to fix floating: floating tree felwood road near timbermaw tunnels removed (blizzard bug). Shifted tree slightly to seal hole above cave near irontree, feralas. Spiderwebs on trees in Redridge.
Reshade preset .ini file ONLY is included, with instructions on how to set it up and download the extra shaders required.
Also included is a folder with an awful lot of carefully taken notes and information to help new modders join the hobby.
Further updates will be limited to hotfixes, one hotfix of loose files will be maintained as a rolling zip file. It will be updated as necessary for manual merging on the end user's part. No other updates or additions are forthcoming.
PERMISSIONS
The listfile is included in the patch to allow for easy editing and I give my permission for editing or re-uploading of my patches. Please enjoy and re-share your customizations here on Nexus if possible. Please do not remove the listfile when re-uploading, this is meant to be open source.
CREDITS
WoD player character models ported by Leeviathan. Intrepid Intra’s water/slime textures. Creatures retroported by fantastic Finsternis, impressive Yumyan, delightful Vladoon, and splendid Loriendal. These creatures have been often combined by many people in many version releases across the web, always great to mix/match. I've added some original fixes/additions to this particular compilation. These have been included for simplicity of installation without conflicts for beginner hobbyists. Upscaled textures and edited where necessary to match the rest of the mod.
I know that the currently active modders among this list have enjoyed combining and re-sharing my work in their own communities that I've shared here over the last 2 years and hope that by providing one patch to reduce the number of files we all juggle, it might make their version control simpler as they continue that practice. Thank you to the modding community as a whole.
Tools used: XnView, Paint.net, BLPNG Converter (TGA/DXT 8bit settings), BLP View (for thumbnails in Windows Explorer), MPQEditor, Noggit (for map editing and to identify textures used on models for edits), and chaiNNer Image Processing GUI for the upscale. Intemporel's FixTXID to fix buggy shadows on ported trees. WBS (WoW Blender Studio) plugin with Blender 3.4 to import and edit .M2 models to fit tree replacements.
TO INSTALL:
Place your custom Patch-*.MPQ into the Data folder
Path: World of Warcraft\Data\{Here}
Patches can be renamed freely in order to change load priority for file overwrites.
"Patch-*.MPQ"
Patch-1.MPQ through Patch-9.MPQ are lowest priority. Single digit numbers only.
Patch-A.MPQ through Patch-Z.MPQ are lowest to highest priority.
Please use capital letters.
For example:
You can use a mod with full textures named Patch-5.MPQ along with a patch named Patch-T. Patch-T.MPQ's files will overwrite only the files contained in that patch, any files not replaced in Patch-T will be loaded from Patch-5.
For another example: If Patch-1 and Patch-Z contain the same file, Patch-Z's version of the file is what you will see in game.
TO UNINSTALL: Delete the Patch-*.MPQ files.
