About the Wiedzmin Renaissance Collection
This collection of mods aims to add book-inspired clothing options, mostly for Yennefer, to the game. Some are based specifically on outfits featured in the books, others are inspired by real life historical outfits, and still others are simply created from my imagination. I was personally disappointed with the lack of variety in the game as far as costumes were concerned. The addition of Blood & Wine came with a fair number of new clothing items, but I wanted more of them for Yennefer's character. Thus, this project was born.
"After leaving her protectors in chains, the enchantress was forced to set accept a diplomatic position within the Empire. Weighed by office, she was seen about Wyzima in black velvet and satin, her face cold as she swept across the stone floor. Around her neck, she wore the emperor's pride, the badge of office labeling her as advisor, as captive, as owned."
About this mod
During the events of the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Letho explains to Geralt how he and the other Viper witchers attempted to keep Yennefer safe while on the run after helping Geralt rescue Yennefer from the Wild Hunt. After the group were imprisoned by the emperor's soldiers, Yennefer was surrendered to Emhyr. Our details of her story end here, but this appearance collection aims to bring that bit of game lore into the story, expounding on the un-detailed agreement Yennefer made with Emhyr to locate Ciri. I have drawn inspiration from 15th century fashion to put this collection of outfits together (though it is more loyal to the details of the world of the witcher than our real world) and have tried to mimic Sapkowski's symbolism in its design.
This ensemble changes Yennefer's torsos & leg models into those of a 15th century high-ranking and well-educated bureaucrat of the Burgundian state; the Witcher 3 hosts a score of clothing items from this region/era, and this ensemble is based on paintings of Phillip the Good, Duke of Burgundy. Modifications have been made in attempt to seam together the game's canon, historical faithfulness, and the plot of TW3.
NOTE: If you've only played the Witcher video games, you'll probably be under the assumption that Yennefer doesn't wear gold, due to the intro quest dialogue at Kaer Morhen when Geralt comments on her jewelry box, and Yennefer says "gold clashes with my complexion, you should know that." For whatever reason, CDPR chose to ignore this small detail from the source material (see the short story The Bounds of Reason) and I in turn have chosen to ignore their edit, and bring Yennefer's outfit in line with both the Nilfgaardian style and her book appearances.
HAIRSTYLE CHANGES Since this is a dynamic mod, Yennefer's hairstyle changes in different and additional scenes.
Her travel hairstyle has been altered to a short curly cut with a chapeau
Her gown hairstyle is now a coiled braid with curls, pearl strands, & a crispine net
Her hood down hairstyle utilizes the above chapeau
