About this mod

Ever think it's weird that Geralt (a nearly centennial Master Witcher) doesn't know Whirl, Rend, and Alternative Signs all together on a single character build? Well, this is the solution! Now Geralt can perform all of these abilities without even investing any skillpoints. However, these abilities are weaker than they would be otherwise.

Master Training Updated Scripts for The Next Gen Edition!

Originally made for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Patch 1.31 in 2019 by KiroKobra , This mod always been one of my favorites and essential mods, I could not extensively play to The Complete Edition without using it, so I decided to update it to work with The Next Gen Patch 4.00. PLEASE, give Credits, endorsements and kudos to KiroKobra , the Original Author for this amazing mod. I wanted to make it possible for people to use it in the latest version of the game so I decided to share it, but I still want to tag the person behind this idea and let him/her know. I will obviously never debate if (s)he want me to remove it at some point, or to give it an even better update, Thank you!

MASTER TRAINING
SPECIAL ABILITIES REWORK

v1.1
by DrawingDrag0ns & KiroKobra

Tested on my The Witcher 3 Complete Edition Next Gen Patch Hotfix 2 Vanilla installation.
Each module can be merged without conflicts using Script merger.

Alternative version:
Offer a new set of stats with fewer compromises

With 85% of each sign power instead of 82% and 1.15x of stamina consumption for both Swirl & Rend instead of 1.18x while unequipped. It's a very small detail but I like it and I'm currently using it. I think it's less punishing but still balanced.

"I think I found a bug, should I submit a bug report?"
With the huge success of the Netflix show "The Witcher", a lot of new and/or returning players are deciding to mod their games. This means there are a lot of people who don't know what they're doing, how to troubleshoot their mod issues, or even know better than to install multiple incompatible mods. Of course, since Netflix is ruining this adaptation, the popularity is probably going to decrease eventually, but The Witcher 3 Next Gen Edition is now released so people are fortunately coming back to this amazing game and community.
But this also means that mod authors, or even very modest modders are getting a lot of false-positive bug reports!

When it comes to Witcher 3 modding, you have to have at least some understanding of what each mod does; if 2 mods edit the same line of code or same XML file, you really should pick one or the other. This game is NOT Skyrim, you can't just chuck a bunch of mods together and have it work.

Before submitting a bug report:
1. Read the mod description page of THIS MOD in it's entirety. Pay close attention to the install instructions, and compatibility notes.
2. Double-check the mod description page of your installed mods, and see if you've installed any mods which are know to be incompatible.
3. Once you have eliminated incompatible mods, you need to deleted your "Merged Scripts" mod folder and re-run Script Merger.
4. If the issue persists after these steps, you then need isolate the issue by uninstalling all other mods.
If you have done all 4 steps, please submit a bug report!

Eh, what do?

Whirl & Rend:
  • Whirl and Rend can be used without investing skill points into them.
  • The "un-ranked" version of these abilities are 18% weaker than rank 1, and consume 18% more stamina.
  • The reason for this change is to still give incentive to invest points into these abilities
Arrow Deflection:
  • Arrow Deflection can be used without investing skill points
  • While "un-ranked", this ability consumes stamina when an arrow is successfully deflected
  • Un-ranked has a 12% chance to fail deflection at all times
  • Un-ranked, If your stamina is lower than what deflection consumes, deflection will fail.
  • The reason for these changes is to still give incentive to invest points into this ability

Alternate Signs:
  • All alternative signs can be used without investing skill points into them
  • The "un-ranked" version of these abilities are 18% less effective than rank 1.
  • "Less effective" has a different meaning depending on which sign is cast...
  • Alt Igni does 18% less damage and chance to burn decreased by 18%
  • Alt Aard has 18% less chance to know down foes
  • Alt Yrden does 18% less damage and expires 18% faster
  • Alt Quen's healing is 18% less effective.

Strings/Descriptions:
  • Mod currently supports English strings. Playing the game in other languages may result in confusing tooltips/descriptions.

FAQ:
  • Q) Does this mod have any in-game options? A) No. This mod is a "set it and forget it" mod, zero options.
  • Q) Can this mod be installed onto a pre-existing save? A) Yes!
  • Q) I think I found a bug, but I'm also using mods X Y and Z. Should I submit a bug report? A) When it comes to Witcher 3 modding, you have to have at least someunderstanding of what each mod does; if 2 mods edit the same line of code or same XML file, you really should pick one or the other. This game is NOT Skyrim, you can't just chuck a bunch of mods together and have it work. Before submitting a bug report, you first need to isolate the issue by uninstalling other mods which may be conflicting. If the issue persists, then yes, by all means please submit a bug report.

COMPATIBILITY
  • NOT compatible with sweeping gameplay overhauls (Ghost Mode, W3EE, or any other "complete overhaul") Generally speaking, those types of mods specifically state that they're not compatible with much.
  • Compatible with all of my other modules, listed above. Give 'em a try!
  • Compatible with texture/mesh and audio mods
  • Compatible with Friendly HUD!
  • Compatible with Immersive Cam!
  • Should be compatible with just about any mod which doesn't edit the same scripts or XML files. Just use Script Merger, and if everything auto-merges, you should be fine. Mileage may vary.

Mod currently supports English strings. Playing the game in other language may result in confusing tooltips/descriptions. French Version is now supported in The Next Gen Edition, since I translated and included it in the update!
Spanish Version is now supported in The Next Gen Edition, thanks to Deepk
