About this mod

Hi!

This is my first and very nitpicky mod that fixes duplicated "Find the silver sword upgrade diagram using your Witcher Senses" quest objective after interacting with the Witcher symbol by the well in Crow’s Perch during Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear – Part 1.

Permissions and credits
I changed it to "Find the silver sword upgrade diagram" to be in line with all other witcher gear sets. I found out about this problem in a discussion to another mod by glassfish777 (nice work btw) and decided that I could try to fix it. Before I’ll describe the cause of this little bug, I want to give a big thanks to Klubargutan who taught me the basics of modding, what tools to use, where to search in the game files etc.

Cause of the bug:

Well, the cause is quite simple. The text was just duplicated in the game strings (DLC\DLC10\content), so I just rewrote it leaving out the "witcher senses" to match it with other gear hunts. Probably an oversight by the developers.

I did it for all languages available but it’s possible that I made a mistake in some languages, so if you find an error, let me know and I’ll try to fix it. Interestingly, it seems that Polish and Russian didn’t suffer from this bug, it was already correctly written, but let me know if I noticed that wrong. The biggest problem was Turkish. The string editor that I used showed me Turkish as Chinese, I don’t know why. Rest of the files were normally in Turkish and when I changed the in-game language to Turkish, it was functioning properly and was indeed in Turkish. I tried to rewrite it, but I couldn’t save it, so I had to find another string editor and learn how to use it and then I could finally fix it for Turkish as well.

This sh*t took me 2 days – 1 day to find the cause and 1 day to fix that problem with Turkish, so hopefully you’ll appreciate this (at least john07770 should be happy) 😀.

Installation and uninstallation:

Simply put the mod folder in your Witcher 3 directory/mods. If this is your first mod, then just create a new folder called "mods" and put it in there. Mod Manager will probably work too. To uninstall, simply delete the mod.

Please note, I’m a medicine student, not a super professional modder, so please don’t ask me to fix this or that because I simply don’t have enough experience to do something more difficult like fixing quest bugs etc. and also don’t have much time right now, but I wanted to share this mod with you. I want to do another mod to fix problems where you earn only 5 % XP even though you’re not 6+ levels above the suggested level of that quest, but now I really want to focus on my studies and if everything goes well, then sometime in summer I can look into this.

I hope you’ll like it if there’s anything to like about it 😊.
