Crashed my game at startup until I used Script Merger, don't remember what the fuss was, but otherwise works perfectly

I downloaded the 1.0 version to use with 1.32 and extracted it in my mod folder but the game still uses Alcohest.

did you use a script merger to make sure my changes are not overwritten by another mod you installed? this mod changes a script that basically almost every mod changes (the player script), so you need to use a script merger (in general when modding witcher 3)

How many times has w3 grabbed one that took a long find the needed item!  ARG!

Thanks for a great mod. I have 100+ of dwarven booze. It takes that as it should.

I meant exactly what I said.
I'll be grateful if you explain. Maybe I don't understand something about game mechanics... and you'll convince me to install this mod.

oh I think the original mod description put it quite nicely: "Drowning in Dwarven Spirit while Alcohest is drying up? No more! This mod changes how alcohol for replenishing potions in meditation is selected. Instead of choosing the cheapest, which happens to be Alcohest, refill picks the alcohol you have the most of." this just balances out your alcohol stock instead of always using alcohest (most owned instead of cheapest), so you don't have to specifically get more alcohest when needing it for specific recipes. this doesn't change a lot in the early game as you will of course get more of the cheap alcohols, but as your playthrough gets longer, this gets more and more obvious. if you load up an end game save where you restocked potions a lot you should see the described scenario, hundreds of expensive alcohols, but for anything that requires the cheaper ones you have to go to a shop to buy them again

So It needed to save alcohest cause it needed to some formulas? Right? I'm install stack size 1000, so I don't think about numbers anymore :)
      PS
I'm install it and will endorse it in 15 min :)

Hey! I am happy to see this mod is getting worked on for the next gen version. Only important one missing from my old mod list!

Tried it out just now, I am still getting script compilation errors when trying to run the game though. Same errors as I got with the "old" file from before the update.

I got some merges with other mods on the "playerWitcher.ws" file, but all those mods work fine, so I don't think this is really a merge issue.

    Any idea?

funny story, we straight up uploaded the wrong file, the old version but in a different encoding (which is why windows told me it was a changed file). I uploaded the correct file this time. let me know if this one works please (I don't play next gen yet). sorry for the inconvenience, enjoy the mod

Okay, so. I haven't tested the functionality yet, I trust you guys on this. But the script errors went away, yay.
Thanks for the quick reply, and happy new years!

Hey, thanks for reading those comments and doing this fix. I will try this one today, as I removed the other mod. I will post back how it goes.

great. if it really doesnt fix it then I was just too tired to proofread my code. its not a difficult fix. I sadly dont have a full stack of any alcohol yet so I couldnt test it.

Got around to trying it. Unfortunately it still used mahakamen that I bought for testing. Maybe does need a proofread?

can you send me a screenshot of your alcohol inventory (or a list)? I dont know what mahakamen has to do with the mod functionality without some stack numbers. Ill get a debug console mod and cheat myself some items to test if it works how I intend it to work

EDIT: ok I used the debug console and it works perfectly for me:
237 dwarven spirit, 430 alcohest -> takes alcohest. 237 dwarven spirit, 230 alcohest -> takes dwarven spirit
a 30 stack of alcohest, a 7 stack of alcohest, a 34 stack of dwarven spirit -> takes alcohest (you can split stacks with the stash)
and then I drank potions and meditated again and again and again and they were used alternatingly

so it seems everything is working on my end. have you installed the mod correctly? do you have a mod conflict? or do you have more stacks of mahakam spirit than you thought?

Now I am wondering if it is a conflict with Axii Always On mod, which edits the same script. Do you think it would work to prioritize yours first? i have avoided the script merger because of all the reports of game not launching afterward.

if you dont merge your script only one mod changing a file is taken. in that case there is no mod "conflict", the mod straight up is not even active. the only thing script merger does is try to copy paste both changes into one file and report an error if they edit the same line. the only way that could cause your game to not start up afterwards is if you havent patched your mod limit (which you should do no matter what because the default mod limit is really low and also already includes all the (free) dlc (https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3643)). theres no other way script merger can cause startup problems (other than in theory hard mod incompatibilities where they fight each other without changing the same lines. then you get a build error message on startup and can then simply delete one of the mods but I dont think there even are such mods atm)

so please use script merger at least to find out which conflicts you have. it could be even more dangerous if you have a mod where only half of the files are active and then they try access the changes from a file that got overridden. dont use mods where half of the files are overridden

I took a hiatus from playing the Witcher to play other games. Now I picked this up again and used Script Merger like you said. Looks like it works now; there was a conflict with some other mod that the merger corrected.
