About this mod

This mod changes how food, drink and gear improvements work. Food and drink will last longer, but regenerate less HP ( both somewhat randomised) to simulate satiation, hydration and varied quality of food and drink. The duration of gear improvements will last a full in game day before they wear off, which makes them more realistic and useful.

:: Immersive Food and Gear Improvements ::

CHANGELOG:
1.32
  • Initial release

DESCRPTION

This mod is a direct successor to my More Realistic Food And Drink and Gear Improvements Last Longer mods. I have updated them both for 1.32 game version and combined into a single mod. It works in both standard game and New Game Plus.

I tried to add more immersion around eating, drinking and improving Witcher gear, while trying to keep things realistic and not OP. I hope you enjoy using it!

This mod changes the values of the actual abilities behind items rather than the items themselves, so it should work with any custom added food, drinks, weapons and armours.

FOOD AND DRINK

Food and drink will now heal you slowly over longer period of time, which is an attempt to simulate satiation and hydration. You will be able to eat and drink regularly, which will provide you with a small HP regeneration bonus, as you're satiated hydrated.

Note that both duration and healing rate are randomised within certain range for food/drink items of different level, to simulate various quality of food/drinks. You could get a stale bread, but at the same time a very nice jug of fresh apple juice to water it down.

Best quality meal will last about 7 in-game hours, which will make Geralt eat 3 meals a day to sustain the small HP regeneration boost :)

The duration of food effect:

  • Level 1 food is assumed low quality and will sate/hydrate you for 1 - 3 in game hours.
  • Level 2 food is assumed medium quality food and it will sate/hydrate you for 3 - 5 in game hours.
  • Level 3 food is assumed best quality and it lasts 5 - 7 in game hours.

The duration of drinks, respectively:

  • Level 1:   1 - 2 in game hours
  • Level 2:   2 - 3 in game hours
  • Level 3:   3 - 4 in game hours

The below table illustrates the exact values for duration (real time seconds = in game hours) and HP regeneration (range of points/second) during exploration and combat (both the same).

Food
Level 1
  240 - 720 s
= 1 - 3 h  >>  1 - 3  HP/s
Level 2
  720 - 1200 s  = 3 - 5 h >>  2 - 4  HP/s
Level 3
  1200 - 1680 s = 5 - 7 h  >>  3 - 5  HP/s

Drinks
Level 1
  240 - 480 s   = 1 - 2 h  >>  2 - 4  HP/s
Level 2
  480 - 720 s  = 2 - 3 h  >> 3 - 5  HP/s
Level 3
  720 - 1200 s = 3 - 4 h  >>  4 - 6  HP/s

GEAR IMPROVEMENTS

Gear Improvements for both weapons and armours will now last a full in-game day (roughly 96 minutes of real time). Vanilla 15 mins translated into 3h 45 min in-game time. Sharpening your sword and improving the armour should last longer than that! A full day makes them more useful and actually worth getting, but also short enough to actively look for the places where you can make improvements once they wear off.

INSTALLATION

Use your favourite mod manager or (if installing manually) unpack the archive into your ../Witcher 3/Mods folder

COMPATIBILITY AND TROUBLESHOOTING:

This mod introduces changes to the following files:

  • \gameplay\abilities\effects.xml
  • \gameplay\abilities_plus\effects.xml

If you have installed any other mods change the same files, the game will use only 1 mod - whichever has the highest priority (i.e. was loaded up last into the game). If after installing this mod one of your mods stops working or if this mod doesn't work, follow this procedure:

  • Navigate to your ..\My Documents\The Witcher 3 folder
  • Create a new text file
  • Name it "mods.settings" and remove the .txt extension
  • Edit the file and  input these 3 lines:

[modIFAGI]
Enabled=1
Priority=0

Now save the mods.settings file, run the game and check if my mod now works.

YES
- you have another mod installed that modifies the same files as my mod. I may be able to make a patch - contact me!
NO - something is wrong, I probably won't have an idea ;)
