About this mod

This Reshade preset aims to make what i have not seen in any others; tired of small and even unnecessary changes as in the other hand excessive ones, with no clear aesthetic sense, decided to do this to a game that really deserves.

About the preset:

I wanted to make every frame of the game, beautiful enough to feel it's dignified of being seen again.
Is not the most complicated preset we have seen, because is not necessary it to be. What specifically did I do here? Wanted to make the most realistic light behavior; not a dull "true to life" thing, which is just impossible by the fact that any actual monitor, tv, projector or whateveryoulike can display something like that (and personally don't believe it's necessary either) but something that, by not maintaining the original look wouldn't detract it. It's lore friendly if you like those words, but an improvement.
No perception of light through our monitors is more than a whole of variables, so replicating them is the best way to make things real, and none is "objective"; I wanted to think the game in a high ISO photography concept, forcing a dark tone, letting his original exposition and colors be; the warm zones of Valen are warm, the colder Skellige is cold, and everything is what it should, but more.

Installation Instructions:

  • Make sure you have Wiedzmin Lighting mod, or download and install it from here: Click here
  • Note that this is a high demanding preset, you could loss around 20fps and possible more!! so it's only recommended to at least gtx1070ti users, or crazy people about graphics like me
  • Said that, I highly recommend Supreme to Extreme Graphics Options, whit grass on ultimate (if you see it popping up on some camera angles, you must change GrassDistanceScale to 1.5 as much in user.settings with Notepad), Beautiful grass Mod, and HD Reworked Project or The UHD Project if you play on higher native resolutions than 1080p
  • Download the injector and install the dxgi.dll from the official webpage: Click Here (no other files are needed)
  • Paste the included files of the preset where the .dll is, in your game path, where the game executable is
Make sure these postprocessing settings in game's menu are this way:

         Bloom: off

Ambient Occlusion: off (HBAO+ for old Version)
       Vignette: off
Sharpness: off (or low if you like it sharp)

And switch the "conserve system gamma" option to "on" (under graphics
options), as calibrated your monitor for srgb color space and 2.2 gamma
Otherwise you will see the game wrong

Known issues:

  • There should be some banding, especially in the vignette and, sky, but just in some moments
  • Some particles at night could react wrongly to light (in fact, the game works this way, but the preset can make it worse)
  • Menu, map and loading screens must look overexposed in the last version, don't scare
  • Fog could look weird in the last version, but except you are in a foggy night, this shouldn't be a problem. Take a look to some screenshots, where this effect can be visible, if it's at all to you.

Consider all of the aforementioned side-effect of the last version a small loss in favour of a potentially better result during gameplay. Things to expect are terrain and vegetation self-occlusion, more lifeness in color and bloom, which now reacts to light changes and environment, and sun indirect-lighting.
Better to see it rather than say it.
