About this mod

Makes the Green Mutagen apply a Percentage Bonus instead of a fixed amount. Two Versions:

Vanilla - Green Mutagen +% Vitality roughly resembles what it did in Vanilla
Rebalanced - Green Mutagen +% Vitality is increased to be useful compared to Red & Blue

Nexus User DominusSicarum told me how to make my mod fix the "Synergy" Alchemy Talent.

Description:

In the Vanilla Game, the Green Mutagen is arguably the weakest choice because it's flat bonus...
a)  ...is comparatively less useful than the +% Bonuses of Red and Blue, especially on Higher Level
b)  ...means it has no effect on any other +Vitality Bonus you may have from Armor, Items, Buffs etc. (NOTE: This is still under testing, at the moment it seems other +Vitality buffs are applied after the % bonus and thus excluded)


To address this Problem I have created two Versions of this Mod: the normal version, and "Rebalanced":

  • Normal attempts to stay relatively close to the +Vitality that the Mutagens give in the unmodified game, just translated into +%.
  • Rebalanced  does the same, but the Bonus is half as much larger - because there is a reason you can see hybrid specs were people dont use Green Mutagens despite using Green Talents, the +600 Vitality being almost useless in comparison, especially on Death March.

Additionally both mod versions fix a little glitch the game has in the behavior of the Alchemy Talent "Synergy". Without my mod, Synergy doesnt properly give you the 50% it claims and it's bonus isnt properly removed if you change the connected Mutagen.

Level 10 Geralt: 4300 Vitality  -  Normal Green +400   =  9,302 %(With 3 Green Skills equipped)
Level 20 Geralt: 4900 Vitality  - Greater Green + 600  =  12,244 %(With 3 Green Skills equipped)
Level 50 Geralt: 5675 Vitality  - Greater Green + 600  = 
10,572 %(With 3 Green Skills equipped)


Normal Mod:
  
Lesser: +5.00%  /  Normal: +7.50%  /  Greater +10.00%(With 3 Skills equipped)

Rebalanced Mod:
  
Lesser: +7.50%  /  Normal: +11.25%  /  Greater +15.00%(With 3 Skills equipped)


Installation / Compatibility:

Make
your choice between the "modGreenMutagenPercentageNormal" or "modGreenMutagenPercentageReBalance" folder and place them into the "MODS" Folder inside your Witcher 3 Game Directory.

In my tests adding/removing this mod always calculated Geralt's Vitality correctly, but as a general rule for ALL mods that somehow change skills, abilities or character bonuses, you should backup your saves.

This mod only modifies  def_item_ingredients.xml  for the base game and NG+ and thus wont be compatible with other mods that change it.


FAQ:

===> The Vitality bonus still doesnt correctly match up the % the Mutagen description shows!
That's because the +% stat is shown as an integer (only full numbers, no
decimal point). The Greater Green Mutagen's base +2% are actually 2.50%
to get a +10% total with 3 green skills, and the 3% on the Rebalanced
version is actually 3.75% for a 15% total with 3 skills.
