I'm not certain if a game in which a jumping near a boat's sail can launch you 20 feet into the air to your death is the best venue for a perma-death mod.
I don't get this kind of comments... others are certain. So only because u don't like or get the idea, this kind of mod isn't suitable for tw3? What makes your opinion more relevant than others? Are you some kind of god? Or the highest scepter of the holy council of computer games?
I'm not gonna drop a good mod request just because the game has bugs. Period.
Hey, no need to get aggressive, they're stating a pretty reasonable argument here. It's not that it's bad you made a mod, it surely is good, of course there are people that enjoy something like that. But when you die not from the challenge that games offers, but thanks to bug and your progress is erased... That would be just unbelievably infuriating
I already announced that i'm working on a reward system. :p Gonna take a while longer, cause i'm currently trying to get a overlay working, but once its implemented, the player gets some "extra lifes" once he played for a reasonable amount of time. Thats kind of a chance to keep playing even if the player dies cause of a bug.
Sadly there is no way around gamebugs, and i wouldn't call a negetive post that questions the mods existance by a single opinion without any sufficient basis "reasonable argument". ^^ Wasn't aggressive, i just questioned his motives for that kind of post. :)
It is a reasonable argument, even if it's one you don't like. There are a lot of situations in this game where you take damage from factors completely outside of your control (e.g. the bug where you exit the boat and get launched into the sky). The whole point of a permadeath mod is to challenge yourself, but it's no challenge if the game kills you despite what you do.
More reasonably, I would play a permadeath mod if there was no fall damage (or at least significantly reduced fall damage). If you added that to your mod, then more people would probably be willing to play it.
By the way, maybe you were unaware(no surprise - the game never tells you that at any point) - you can press the jump button again before landing and, depending on height, reduce or completely avoid the damage.
Here, the thing I don't get is "What... why?" Totally ignoring that I hate the idea of permanent death and such specifically because of bugs and cheap bag-shots almost every game throws at you, I DO understand Iron-man challenges and the like.
But... why? If I decide I want to play a game and have to completely restart when I die, I can simply... start a new fucking game when I die. I don't need a mod for it, starting a new game when you die is an inherent feature of every single game ever (except Life).
Is there actually a significant population without the balls to make themselves restart who actually has the will to install this to make it force them to restart? Is it more than 4.7 people (that midget counts too, sorta)?
Hello again, I managed to finish the first zone and all except 1 sub quest and gryphon I also made it much more difficult for myself and used this mod as well : http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/139/? . I must say I am having really tons of fun, huge thanks to you mate! Now it's ok to stream with it, right? I don't know if I can post links to twitch, but you will be very welcome to stop by http://www.twitch.tv/malderonwins .
That was very fun evening, enjoyed it a lot! I am going away for a few days though, back on Monday/Tuesday. Hopefully some update from u when I come back . One thing though, when I wanted to save the game, I couldn't do manual save only with F5 then I went to main menu to check if all is fine and... Game screen was empty like when there are no saves. Imagine my emotions! Thanks god when I restarted the game completely, saves were right there. P.S. Unlike first levels I managed to save record : http://www.twitch.tv/malderonwins/b/668116457.
Thats kind of the point. The tool removes the save, so it can't be copied by the user. The user only gets to load the last save again, if he didn't die. ^^
First of all, I haven't installed this mod yet, I probably will tonight.
I have been playing the game with a self imposed hardcore mode. I have restarted probably 10 times so far. My usual deaths are when I get greedy. Drowners and Nekkers can be deadly early on if you try to take on more than one at a time. Nekkers especially because they are so fast and its difficult to outrun and escape 2 of them.
The thing that makes it especially tough is there is really no way to grind levels in White Orchard. Doing all the quests and ?'s you can get to level 3 before facing the Griffin. Its all about being smart and surviving early on.
LOL! I've seen innumerable inflated, hyperbolic claims of "hardcore" for innumerable game mods for I don't know how many games/years. I've always snickered (silently at least) and thought..............yea, if it was really hardcore; when you died you'd have to start over.
And here it is........................you sir; have my undying respect!
It's for perverted masochists, I dont see anyone else who would repeat game after hmm, 150h? 200? Specially when it might be about bug/glitch death ^^. But fun is all what matter, right?
True, i'm currently thinking about a reward system after hours played. So once u managed to stay alive for ~ 30 hours, u get another shot.
Well, the idea is fairly new, but i like it. The only thing thats missing yet is a quick gamestart mod. But i don't see that one coming before we get the redkit.
Well if there is any way to create such 'rewards' or even checkpoint system, like saving progress after after bigger events 'velen, novigrad, skellige, whole main quests i think it will work, in that case even I would be interested in this, since I'm playing games for challenges and overall hard 'mode'. But in this phase I dont see myself replaying the game after a death that I couldnt do anything, game is still perfect for me in overall rating but all we know its full of bugs, every sandox is so dying beacuse of texture stuck, save corruption or any other anomalies is nothing uncommon. I find modes like this in games like 'that' very useful, its not only preventing You from rushing the game (anyway its hard to rush anything in here where even 'easiest' and most basic quests [go find my wife] will get You after some badass creature hunting or other harsh activities. So immersion is going really high when You actually playing the game and 'role play' the witcher world. Even if there will be 'official' insane gamemody I doubt it will be any more advanced than just simple "die once, restart", and I put my faith much more with mods like You just did, and the improvements like checkpoints, specific boss fights re-peat etc etc. That is my statement and opinion about whole thing, game is too long, big and 'loaded' with content to just left it with simple 'one-way-ticket'.
I released it early to get a chance to find some nasty bugs early on, especially find the resolutions what still cause trouble, but i'm already working on the reward system.
Wish You luck with that project then. But still I think without full RedKit any bigger changes wont be possible, but anyway searching and checking how this are working at this moment is a good plan. Keep it up.
Oh cool glad to see you got it working! I'll give a try now. Sorry for not posting back my resolution on project forums my max resolution is 1600 x900 cause of my screen. - BarikMorloc
In Diablo 3, once you die, it's over. There's no backup, there's no excuse. If you die because the server lagged, too bad for you. I may try this if you remove the backups and prevent the player from using his backups once the mod is installed. Otherwise there's no point to it. Anyone feeling butthurt can just uninstall your mod. I'll give it a try if it turns actually hardcore and backups aren't saved and are actively prevented.
Should have been more specific about the backup. Previous saves are stored elsewhere, but there is no "backup" for the current save the player gets to load again if he didn't die. The Remove tool only retrieves the previous "normal" gamessaves, but the new hardcore save is gone if the player dies.

I for myself stuggle the most when it comes down to avoid too much higher leveld monsters. xD

and you have a harder mode with permadeath.
