About this mod

Only see highlights when you sense. Absolutely no other effects or restrictions.

Permissions and credits
Compatible with 1.31.0.

This is yet another witcher sense mod. None of the other mods available went far enough for me. This mod does the following:

  • Removes all zoom and distortion effects as well as slight changes in camera perspective.
  • Removes mixer changes which made the world around you quieter while sensing.
  • Removes restrictions on sprinting and jumping while sensing.

I wanted to be able to run around the countryside sensing without any modifications to the camera, the volume of ambient sounds, or the speed at which I move. I wanted to see only object highlights and creature ripples. The only thing I was unable to modify is the very thin border of red on the edges of the screen when a highlighted object is in view. This is an artifact of the highlighting aura and not something left over from the disabled zoom/distortion effect. A slight zoom is enough to hide this border, but I wasn't willing to make that sacrifice.

Thanks to AEon2001 for suggesting I unblock jumping while sensing.

An optional version incorporates one of my other mods: No Combat or Weather Commentary. Both mods alter the same file, so for the sake of convenience, I've made a combined version.

Yet another version features only unrestricted sprinting and jumping while sensing--visual and auditory effects remain intact. Use this version only if you like the way witcher sense is handled in the vanilla game, but also want to be able to sprint and jump whole using it.

Install:
Place modTrueMinimalistSense OR modTrueMinimalistSenseCommentary OR modUnrestrictedWitcherSense into the \mods directory of your game installation directory. Install only one of these mods!

Uninstall:
Remove modTrueMinimalistSense or modTrueMinimalistSenseCommentary or modUnrestrictedWitcherSense from the \mods directory of your game installation directory.

This mod includes the following files:
/content/scripts/game/gameplay/focus/focus.ws
/content/scripts/game/player/r4Player.ws
/content/scripts/game/player/states/swimming.ws

r4Player.ws is a commonly modified file. If you use another mod that includes this file, or any of the other files listed above, you'll need to merge the changes from this mod yourself, either manually or with a merge tool. I can't vouch for Script Merger, but I imagine it would work fine. However, my changes are simple and it should be easy to manually merge them. Any script merge errors are a problem on your end and are not related to the mod--please don't post about them.

Companion mods:

Witcher Sense Toggle and Double Range by flAked - These mods will add a toggle key for witcher sense and double the range of the ability. You can use either or both of them, and they're fully compatible with True Minimalist Witcher Sense and Unrestricted Witcher Sense. Both mods are found under the 'Optional Files' section. Please note that flAked's main mod, NoWitcherSenseFX, will conflict with True Minimalist Witcher Sense and Unrestricted Witcher Sense, so only use his optional files (unless, of course, you prefer his mod to mine).

Witcher Sense Toggle Tweak by vizex1 - This modified focus.ws automatically switches off Witcher Sense when entering combat when using True Minimalist Witcher Sense and Witcher Sense Toggle. The side effect is witcher sense will have to be toggled back on after certain actions which now disable it, like climbing ladders, mounting/dismounting a horse, or taking damage. Thanks to vizex1 for helping reconcile these two mods!

My other mods:

Proper Journal Sounds
No Combat or Weather Commentary
No Illusion Spoilers (Eye of Nehaleni)
No Stamina or Adrenaline Sounds
No Death Thump on Game Over

Other great mods I recommend:

Leave Roach Alone - Geralt no longer yells incessantly at Roach.
Large Font - Finally recliner/couch play is comfortable.
Remove Screen Water Droplets Effect - Why remind me I'm seeing the world through a camera lens?
Instant Sign Casting for DS4 - An InputMapper profile which makes a controller almost as effective as keyboard and mouse.
