About this image

Despite the fact that I think TW3 is vastly superior to TW2 in almost every way, there is one aspect in which I think the sequel is undeniably stronger than the threequel — the armor. In TW2, every set of armor looked aesthetically pleasing, unique, and faithful to the lore, whereas in TW3 it seems that the developers opted for quantity over quality. This resulted in a lot of completely useless, ugly items that the original Geralt wouldn't have even touched because of their awkwardness, bulkiness, and ugliness.

I don't mean all the gear presented in the threequel, I think you know exactly what I'm talking about.

There was once a mod that replaced all those ugly TW3 armor sets with TW2 analogues, but unfortunately, it has not been updated for many years, and it also has some problems, such as stretched icons, low-quality textures, and the fact that these unique and valuable sets could be found in ordinary barrels significantly spoils the immersion (since in The Witcher 2 they were achieved through sweat and blood, which is much more truthful and interesting), and they all needed to be rebalanced.

Also, isn't it strange that the Witcher armor from Kaer Morhen is inferior to some rags found in barrels around White Orchard, for example? The legendary armor that was shown in all the trailers and on all the posters... We don't even have time to enjoy it, because in the first few hours of the game we have to swap it for much uglier sets to get better stats. Here's how I see it: just remove all the ugly sets from TW3 (I think you know which sets I'm talking about) and add the TW2 counterparts instead, but place them in guarded hideouts or add them to merchants for a high fee. Each of these sets is good in its uniqueness, and I think it would be best to add each of them in a single copy, as was the case with the sequel and TW1. For example, one of these sets could be at the blacksmith in White Orchard. I think it would be better to make it available for sale as a reward only after the blacksmith's quest has been completed, and only if it is chosen in his favor. Another in Velen at the Baron's castle, etc.

I believe now that we have a really good modding tool, this is possible to done.

I realize how difficult it is; it really takes a lot of effort and time. If I could, I would do it myself, but unfortunately, I am absolutely nothing at modding and I don't even have a PC at the moment, so I'm calling on all TW2 fans and admirers of the aesthetic to make this a reality. Please, someone, make this happen. It would be incredible and legendary.

Mate, there's "More Robes", a mod that adds W2 armours in without replacing W3 armours.

Yeah, I know that mod, thanks for reminding me of it. Still, I mean, it's a slightly different approach.

There already is a mod for it other than More robes. But dunno if it's compatible with next gen.

There are a lot of imperfections, most of the pendants do not fit the armor and the gauntlets do not fit most of them at all

I agree with this, the aesthetic appeal of Witcher 2 is also something special. With Witcher 3 they were introducing new technology, so it wasn't as good as it could be yet imo. It is a perfect game after a little modding though.

To be clear, I'm not saying the graphics are better, just that W2 utilized the tech they had to it's full potential and the lighting and atmosphere is gorgeous. The cutscenes too.

"More robes" is still awesome for the W2 armors though.
