About this image

So here's a little update to my ongoing Netflix armor project. I have made some pretty significant progress since my first post:

  • redid torso topology
  • better belt model
  • sculpted, retopologised and textured (first pass) the pants and boots

What's left:
  • Finish sculpting the torso
  • Finish resculpting the shirt (I'm not satisfied with the current version)
  • Texture the torso and shirt
  • Second texture pass on the pants and boots

After that, I'll be able to start rigging this thing and actually bring it to life in TW3.

Thanks for all the positive comments on my previous posts, I'm doing my best to make this look as good as I can, provided I have no professional background in 3D or any kind of artistic discipline. And remember, feedback is very much welcome. :)

EDIT: Whoops, just realised the new unfinished collar model is visibly clipping through the old one.

Thanks. I had a lot of IRL stuff going these last couple of weeks so not much progress has been made. I'm hoping to get back to it sometime this week. I very much want this to be ready and released as well (to play with it myself and also move on to other projects) :)

So far so good. The only thing I'm gonna ask for - please keep that light and tight look the armor has in the show, don't go for that bulky look some players like. This armor makes Geralt shoulders look wider because of the shoulder pads, just like the Kaer Morhen Armor, so no need to go any further. In my opinion, witcher's armor should always be light, because a slow witcher is a dead witcher.

Yep. I've spent hours now staring at pictures of that armor so I do realise it's actually pretty thin. Also I've modelled it around the actual naked torso from TW3 to make sure it is tailored for CDPR's Geralt. The curvature around the bottom of the torso armor was tricky to get right but I'm satisfied with how it ended up, since it looks like it offers decent mobility for the legs.

True, the armor is actually light. Once again, it's just a nice trick they have done with shoulder pads, which make his torso look bigger.
Can't wait to see that armor in game.

btw would u be making the version with 3 shoulder pads with leather pads on the belly area? like the one geralt wore during the striga fight?
    here's what i'm talking about

Well it would require a lot more work to be done because I’d have to resculpt an entirely new torso since the lower end changes quite a bit. And believe me, getting those creases and all those metal studs right is a massively tedious task and I’d much rather not have to redo it ever again. As I stated in the first post, I chose this version because it seemed like the most doable, as well as the one that would look best on CDPR’s Geralt. I’m not entirely sure the version you’re asking about would look good on this Geralt since Cavill has much different body proportions. This fact alone makes it already tricky to get the proportions right on the version I’ve chosen. So unless there is a huge demand for it, in the foreseeable future I’d have to say no. Hope you understand.

TL;DR: No because too much additional work and not sure if worth it.

It will look cool, like an updated version of the same armor as in witchers schools. But obviously, this is a very laborious task.
