Aen Seidhe Eyes
Elven Eyes for The Witcher 2

by Flix

Introduction
  • TW2 elves pretty much all use the same dark brown eye textures, which are also shared by humans. By contrast, elves in TW3 (and book lore) had very striking eyes, with bright vibrant hues that made them look slightly otherworldly. I wanted to recreate this exotic effect for TW2.
        Plain Brown Vanilla Eye:

  • This mod adds 4 new unique eye textures and assigns them to the various elves of TW2. The new colors are: amber, violet, azure, and emerald.
        New Aen Seidhe Eyes:

  • A handful of elves still have the original brown eyes because some elves are known to have dark eyes in the lore.
  • Take note: some of the secondary characters seem to cycle through the different eye colors upon leaving the area, saving, and reloading. Some may even revert to the original dark brown. I don't know why this happens. w2ent files are weird and headache-inducing files to edit. The good news is I have not seen any inconsistent colors with the major quest characters like Iorveth, Cedric, or Malena.

Installation
  • Extract all folders from within the zip file into the "CookedPC" folder of your Witcher 2 installation. Overwrite folders if prompted.
  • Adding/removing this mod in the middle of play-through should not hurt anything in your save game.

Compatibility
  • This mod edits the w2ent file (model reference) for (nearly) every elf in the game, to change the referenced eye textures from default brown to the new custom textures.
  • I could not find any mods on the Nexus that alter these same files (I can see why since these files are a pain).
  • No base textures are altered, and the mod should affect no NPCs other than elves. w2ent files can be tricky and some affect multiple NPC's per file. I tested as thoroughly as possible to make sure no non-elves were affected.

Other highly recommended TW2 NPC retextures:

If you play TW1, I recommend you pick up NPC Eye Overhaul, which also gives the elves Aen Seidhe eyes. Then continuity will be maintained between all 3 games.
