Thanks. No, we don't, the cutscene fixes are posted here for convenience. As I mentioned, they're exactly the same like in the Miscellaneous Fixes - I haven't found any more to fix in the main campaign. So you can just download which file you need.
The pleasure is mine. Yeah, I think it was something everyone wanted to see changed in the game. The vanilla Aerondight has the appearance of the default silver sword though - only Moonblade has a unique model of all the silver swords. Unless one uses a sword replacer mod.
Were it I wouldn't have to ask for a permission, I'd have included such version by now. There is a way you could do it for your own game though, I hinted it below to another user. Once you see how my files look like, you'll get an idea what has to be done.
Once you compare how each file looks like, you'll know how to edit the file from the Aerondight mod you use. It's the only way for the model to be read in a cutscene by the game. Of course, you will need the other files from that mod, it's the .mdb you need to tweak slightly, so that the game cutscenes take the appearance of the modded silver sword.
You've just compared it if you deduced that very thing. You don't need to actually open the files. it's an edit anyone can do in a few seconds. Ehm, about the file's (.mdb) name. You can see how the Moonblade .mdb's name looks in this mod here. Now to apply something like this to the .mdb from the Aerondight mod you use.
So I should just copy the .mdb file from the Aerondight mod I use, rename it and place it in the silver sword folder? Didn't expect it to be that easy. Thanks
It wasn't easy to come up with the solution in the first place, there was a moment I thought I'd have to scrap the whole idea. Yes, you have to rename it and place in any folder you find convenient in your Override. I admit I had to do something like it myself, because I also use an Aerondight replacer in my game . So you have actually two Aerondight .mdb files in the Override. One - named like the default silver sword to basically fool the game and make it work, and the original modded .mdb, so that the modded Aerondight is displayed properly in gameplay.
I know it can be confusing, but the game's cutscenes were created in such way that there's no other chance, editing the cutscenes themselves would only allow to have one fixed sword there. By fixed I mean I'd have to choose one particular sword, although even that would've been difficult to achieve - a peculiar design of the cutscenes. My solution allows for a 'dynamic' change that adjusts to the swords you possess. I hope it works now, let me know if you had any more problems with it.
I'll let you know how it goes the next time I see a cutscene. Honestly, I think this is the best way you could handle it, and I don't mind having to replace the swords manually. After all, I don't even plan to change my swords until I get G'valchir and Aerondight
After a few attempts, I managed to make it work. Don't know why it took me so long to figure it out, but since I'm using a mod that also changed the texture of the original witcher swords, I had to remove the .mdb file to make my preferred sword appear in cutscenes. Now I'm on chapter 5 and your mod works perfectly, even with the W3 Aerodight retexture I installed
Hello, thank you. No, it does not work with it - my files are based on the vanilla .mdbs. That mod's permissions allow other modders to create compatibility patches, but unfortunately they forbid the use of Donation Points if the assets were used. But you can make it work in your game by yourself, just take a look how my files look like, that should give you a hint
Hey, man. I already said before your mods are amazing. Have a question for you. Can you also fix cutscenes in the prologue where Vesemir and Eskel equipped with rusty swords. Also at the end of 1 chapter, when Geralt enters Vyzima, he has a rusty sword as well.
Hey, thanks again. Sure thing, I wasn't aware of these few. Do Vesemir and Eskel have rusty swords in each cutscene they're in? Doesn't that affect Lambert and Leo by chance? The more details I have, the easier it'll be to see what can be done.
No, no. The very first cutscene when geralt is found in the forest and then all three of them are arriving in Kaer Morhen. Vesemir and Eskel both have rusty swords. After that everything is normal.
I'm not sure I understand. In the vanilla The Witcher 1 every cutscene after the Prologue uses default steel and silver swords. After installing a folder with the sword that one uses at the moment, any cutscene is going to show them. If you aquire a new sword, I suggest to follow the steps from the description, otherwise you'll see the sword you've just stopped using in any next cutscene.
Thanks a lot, I have to admit, it meant a lot to me when I saw the results in-game, at some point I also thought it was impossible to fix. The moral of the struggle - never give up, come up with something and try if it works. It worked.
Thanks, I appreciate it Yeah, you could say it is, for all those years the cutscenes had been with the default swords - now it's going to be the swords the player actually uses.
And in English it means...? After figuring it out - I'm glad you like the mod so much, indeed, it was almost eighteen years overdue. When I saw the effect work for the first time - it was a great moment, I'm happy now everyone can see it in their game.
I'm really glad you're modding The Witcher, this is one of my favourite games of all time and all fixes and tweaks are welcome. I hope you have more of these coming. Have you considered taking a look at Witcher 2 too?
Thank you, indeed, The Witcher 1 is something else, the work the team had done on improving and modifying the Aurora engine is impressive in itself. And its very book-like atmosphere is highly commendable - the next games have a problem with it.
Honestly, I think my fixing journey has come to an end - with Project Mersey, a few other mods and the mods of mine, plus you also have a very interesting total rebalance in the form of FCR 1.6 - the game is in a great condition, unless I am informed of a bug nobody has fixed before, I think that's it. The cutscene weapons were the biggest challenge I wanted to tackle. But I still see a potential in D'jinni, I may have a surprise in store .
The Witcher 2... I think Project Mersey takes care of almost everything there, but naturally, I think I could take a look, I've got a certain idea.
