Old school Zone of Control is now in Wildermyth!
Tired of monsters ignoring your frontline and dashing straight for your hunter or mystic? Think it is strange how you can always easily flank enemies in tight groups. With Zone of Control combat will be cramped and deadly unless you plan ahead. Keep your formations tight or lock down keypoints with your melee fighters and you will win the day.
Zone of Control features
- All heroes wielding melee weapons and all monsters with melee attacks will now excert a zone of control based on melee range.
Meaning upon entering the melee radius around a melee opponent you lose 1 movement point and any additional movement in the radius or away from it will incur a free attack of opportunity similar. This should make it easier to protect ranged units and spellcasters for both heroes and enemy factions and make combat a more risky and strategic.
- A majority of melee monsters (except for very aggressive, feral or ranged monsters) now has either the guard ability or free guard ability.
- Guard can now be removed by dealing damage.
- Heroes and monsters guarding will now display a little shield icon above them when guarding to differentiate them from characters exerting zone of control.
Planned features
- Attack of opportunity if a ranged weapon attack is attempted in close combat.
- Guard icon above monsters when guarding. (currently shown with threat range like vanilla)
- Abilities that add more reaction attacks (attacks of opportunity) per round.
- Abilities that allow free movement within opponents zone of control.
