My kids often watch this cartoon but it’s more a reference to the character of Donald Sutherland, the crazy tanker. In my opinion, the war always tells the same story, that of a robbery, the winner takes the booty. Under the guise of comedy, this film is much more honest and relevant, in my opinion, than many films that want to be serious about the subject. That said, we agree. To justify the war of the moment or the war to come, they soon exalted the warrior value and patriotism of yesteryear. A way to condition minds and make accept the unacceptable.
The golden age of cinema, a great movie, I recommend it. Contrary to popular belief, an anti-militarist film like Sam Peckinpah’s "Cross of Iron" or M.A.S.H . :)

At the end of every war: Where has all the gold gone?
Mais, I suspect that you're referring to the Oddball cartoon show.
