Does anyone have any tips for fixing fps drop because of combat hits? Like everytime me or a enemy gets hit my fps drops immensely. Edit 1: I have discovered that it has nothing to do with this mod
Is it possible to restore the vanilla War Form for Protean? I prefer the idea of a werebat for vampires than the wolf-like form the patch replaces it with.
Just go to Unofficial_Patch\models\character\monster\animalism_beastform, delete the beastform files, copy the baastform files and rename them to beastform.
For some reason after meeting Heather at Ventrue Towers she vanished off the face of the earth. After checking every Haven with noclip it seems she shacked up at the Tremere hideout. Which sucks for me being a Gangrel vampire.
So if Heather ever disappears for any of you that's where you can find our beautiful pet!
I just want to say you're my hero for continuing to work on this. Just found out the sequel is being made and wanted to replay the original. Major kudos to you for keeping up on this.
But...do u still working on it? You deserve a f**king monument, dudes. Please, keep on rolling! (Btw, I detected some problems in the hunter mod, being the npc in a "passive" mode instead of attacking me in all the locations except SntMonica).
/hugs from Spain. As a business teacher, im using your case as an example of tenacity.
Quick question with having the mod want to open on Win11. I've been thoroughly looking online for some solution to have the unofficial patch work and run when I click the executable. Is there any way to somehow allow the .exe to run and start downloading the unoffocial patch? Previously, I was on Win10 and never had this issue. Launch the .exe, allow it to run when the windows defender dialogue pops up and good as gold. Now with Win11, just clicking the .exe won't even open any window.
I've tried turning off the firewall, allowing the .exe as an exception to run through the firewall, still nothing. It is maddening because this game is wonderful and would like to continue playing on my newer system.
I have the exact same issue, your .exe won't open on Windows 11 with administrator mode on/off, exluded in virus detection, mulitple compatability modes. Nothing
I have no problem running on windows 11, however I have had an issue trying to run an older game that required an api translation layer via DXVK. It was a bit of effort to setup and I'm not sure it would work for VtM:B but the github is here:
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk
However, like I said, I have no issues running VtM:B in win 11, however I use the Atlas OS amelioration playbook. You can find out more here:
https://atlasos.net/
Basically it removes all of the windows bloatware including edge, msstore, all the built in security stuff. Since it seems like you guys are having security issues launching an un-credentialed exe I imagine, the issue probably has something to do with windows security and I guess I'm not having the issue because the Atlas playbook removes all the windows security from the root. It cuts away like 80% of windows background processes and dramatically increases performance. I would recommend it if you hate windows bloat ware.
The down side is that you need to reinstall windows fresh before applying the playbook, or who knows what might break. I've never heard of anyone attempting to apply the playbook to a non-fresh windows install. So depending how you feel about re-installing your OS, I would definitely recommend Atlas regardless because it makes the windows experience better overall and will likely fix the issue. You would obviously be left without windows security so if you are the kind of person that feels like windows security is providing you some value, that is something to consider.
The DXVK vulkan api translation layer may or may not help those unwilling to reformat, but it is not particularly easy to setup, even for people that are moderately experienced with programming (just look at the instructions and if your head is spinning, this is probably not a viable solution for you) and I don't even know that it would even apply to VtM:B although it IS for older versions of direct X (which VtM:B uses), and the issue it solved with the game I was trying to play sounded identical, wherein clicking the exe did nothing... (then again, if that was the issue, VtM:B shouldn't be running without issues on my machine; this specific version of DX fixed the same issue on another machine and may be worth trying because it is quick and easy: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/9_13_1220/physx-9-13-1220-driver/ just this version though for some reason)
But I am also a little confused by your wording: "unofficial patch work and run when I click the executable" are you talking about just the installer or are you talking about the actual game? Because when the patch is installed you can run the vanilla game or the patch through 2 separate executables (or at least commands on the executable), so just to clarify, if you are having trouble running the installer for the patch, the API translation layer solution will do nothing for you and you should ignore it entirely.
One final thing that may or may not work, if it is a security issue, is trying to remove windows security via the power shell or through the registry. This can be tedious and I've had little luck getting it out completely, which is why I use Atlas, however you might be able to disable enough of it to get the exe to launch. Look at the guides if you google something like "windows 11 remove windows security with power shell"
Sorry, I know that was a lot of information, hopefully it helps some of the people having issues. But I can say that VtM:B works great for me on win 11.
Regarding "unofficial patch work and run when I click the executable", what I mean is that when I go to download the unofficial patch. The process of clicking the .exe (VTMBup115rc8.4) made from modbd, will not open. No window pops to allow, or let windows run the .exe. Nothing happens. Really don't want to go through the process of reinstalling windows, though your insight and solution sounds tempting.
