Legend has it that Allfather Odin plucked out his eye and cast it into a well in exchange for knowledge. As his eye sank into the murky depths, it passed amongst all the branches of Yggdrasil before crashing into the tenth and forming Valheim with its tumultuous impact. Whether any part of the legend is true, none mortal can truly say. Save perhaps, for Odin himself...

The Eye of Odin is a custom, hand-crafted world for Valheim. Featuring 100% hand painted terrain replete with islands, mountains, lakes, rivers and a massive inland sea. Compared to vanilla, the biomes are all substantially larger. In terms of the land to sea ratio, there is roughly 60-40 land to sea, with the inner and outer seas connected by rivers.

This map is intended to be fairly challenging. The biomes are all substantially larger than in vanilla, forcing you to have to travel far and wide and plan well ahead. You will have to build a proper ship to leave the main island, let alone the smaller island you spawn upon due to the sheer distance between the central island and the mainland. The inner and outer oceans are connected by narrow and winding rivers, necessitating a treacherous journey through what I like to call "Banjo Land." Only the banjos are axes and swords, and the locals are all too eager to Deliverance them to your skull. Also, many of the boss altars are protected, as it were. If and when you intend to summon a boss? Expect resistance.

As a final note, this is a beta release. I fully intend to update the map if/when the devs update the game for Ashlands/Deep North, et cetera. Until then, I recommend mods that add content to those areas, if you're keen on spending time there. Expect updates, either frequent or infrequent dependent on feedback and my fickle muse.
