*Question* Just learned the hard way about the 3rd row getting deleted by friends. I'm not going to pay to have a server just to have mods work for them if I can avoid it. So my question is, if they install the mods as well on their pcs, does it work and prevent the extra row from getting deleted?
Yes if they have the mod it will be fine. The way that Valheim works with chests is whenever anything changes it syncs the entire contents of the chest. So when someone without the mod does it then it syncs it all without the last rows. When running the server there might be a way to make it not remove stuff but with no real modding tools it was too hard to figure out.
What I wanted to do for our server (haven't played in a long time, hopefully an update motivates me to do more modding) is basically force the mod for anyone who joined. So if you join without it then it kicks you with a message saying you need the mod.
Also, you imply that paying for a server with friends would fix this, it wouldn't. Everyone needs to use the mod no matter how you are playing.
If you and your friends use valheim+ then I think you can just use that, I think they allow configuring the space. It would still have these same issues though.
Have you tried again in a test server or something? That's a pretty bad issue to only have 1 person complain. I wonder if people are losing stuff but don't know it.
I'll look into it once I get a chance, it's a bit hard to get back into valheim modding with how everything works.
EDIT: only thing I see in the patch around the time you posted this that could be relevant is "Performance improved while using the inventory with many items"
As of today, could have been sooner as I haven't played in a couple of weeks and just wanted to check, **this mod is working again for me**. I had an update today to the Jotunn library which may have been something to do with it, but not sure there. Also had a plant everything update, but almost 100% that had nothing to do with this. I also had a message in Vortex indicating that the bepinex file was moved due to some servers auto-kicking people from them for having it. Again, not sure if it was relevant, but I figured I'd include it just in case.
I really appreciate this mod, btw <3 Very epic addition to make life a little easier to live.
**edit: bonus awesomeness, the items that I thought were gone forever are back <3
