One of the main things that bothered me about Unreal Tournament 3 is its lack of color, it doesn't look bad on most maps but it does not look right either being dull, washed out.  All other Unreal and UT games have their full color, plants look nice and lush, full of life.  UT3 often looks like everything is covered in ash.  And light beams being washed out looks ridiculous.

Now one could uncheck the "Bloom and Depth of Field" setting in the game's graphics menu, which is actually a switch for the Uber post process shader.  With this setting off some levels inparticular, such as Arsenal, look dim or off.  Other levels may look fine but not as exciting or immersive.  The Color Control mutator is another option which turns off the desaturation, except for Sanctuary, but then the servers would need to have it active.  And well some people may want diminished color.  The Blossom mutator could also be used, but again same problem due to it being a mutator.

The game has no option to toggle bloom, depth of field, or desaturation individually.

One day I was told about this post.  https://forums.epicgames.com/unreal-tournament-3/ut3-general-chat/231868-tutorial-ini-color-tweak-pic  They make a few mistakes about highlights and mid tones but this gets the color back.  After trying that out myself I dug deeper and found out how to keep the per level mid tones and highlights rather than having it the same for the whole game.  So after some experimenting I have something I think is ready to share.

Option 1
The Colorful option will turn off desaturation and depth of field.  Set bloom to the defaults for the blossom mutator as I found them to be good values for physical accuracy or as best that can be had given the crude bloom the game uses.

Option 2
Blue Goo.  This is something from my experimentation I thought people might enjoy.  As the name implies the bio goo will be in part blue.  Neat for a change of pace if you want a different look for a bit.  It also makes part of the shield belt's shielding blue, pretty cool.

Option 3
Brighter is something I stumbled upon and thought hey that is a convenient solution for people who say UT3 is too dark.  This will brighten up the game without making it look faded by turning up the brightness setting instead.  Note default brightness value for the game is 6.
