Ever want to play this 1-player game as only 1 character? Feel like the game is too easy, even on hard mode? Want a more cutthroat gameplay where if you die, you die? Then this is the mod for you!

Solo Play makes every single area in the entire game behave like a town. This means that your other 2 characters are not present and you cannot switch to them (It doesn't mean that they pop up outside just standing around though).

Installation instructions:
1. Download the file and place it in "\steamapps\common\Trials of Mana\Trials of Mana\Content\Paks\~mod". If the ~mod folder doesn't exist, you can make it, or you can just put it in the Paks folder. Mods in any subdirectory of the Paks folder will read.
2. IMPORTANT: Load the game and put the AIs on "Exclusively protect". Set all three sliders to "Do not use" (so do not use spells, class strikes, and items).

Known issues:
-If you die, the game will not move to the death screen, it will just sort of sit there. You have to open the menu and load your game if you die (same effect as the death screen, just not as fancy).
-Unless the main character is dead, the other characters will be able to use items if directly commanded to do so (so I could tell my Carlie to use a honey elixir on my main character). The item will be used instantly with no cast time or cooldown. You cannot use items when the main character is dead (not sure why to be honest) so Angels Grails are now completely useless items.
-Other characters still talk, still have portraits and hp bars, and still generally exist, except for the sake of gameplay.

Here's a full, technical break down of how this works:
-This doesn't seem to affect save files at all in the time that I've tested, so when you turn this off, it goes back to normal (no promises though, this is still beta).
-Your other characters still gain EXP, so if you want to disable this mod and play as 3 people, they won't be underleveled
-You can still shop for other characters, assign them points, and change their class, they just aren't present, well, ever.
-Other characters still pop up in cutscenes, and their battle voices still happen at the start/end of battles sometimes. In-field dialgoue still takes place as well.
-Enemy spells that target all three characters specifically will just target you and two random spots in the battlefield.
-Abilities that affect every character are still applied.
-Avoid using "Provoke" on one of the other two characters, it just confuses the monsters badly enough that they probably won't ever attack you.
-You still have access to chain abilities from the other two characters.

Things I'm working on:
(No promises that I'll actually figure any of this out)
-Removing the HUD for all but the main character (would have to be a specific file you download depending on which character is your main)
-Removing the battle sounds for all but the main character (same as the above)

Mod Conflicts
At the time of writing, the only mod I know of that conflicts is the one hyperlinked below. Everything else should work fine.

This is a beta mod. I haven't tested every possible runthrough. If there are any bugs not listed on this page, please post them in the comments so I can either try to work on them or bang my head against the keyboard.

There may eventually come a better way to do this, from my own exploiting of the game, I know it's possible, but until we figure it out (if we ever do) this is definitely functional.

Special Thanks:
This is a mod I've been waiting for since the game came out. Thanks to the great work of Rinnegrid in identifying TOM files, it's finally possible.
If you want the opposite of this (all characters will follow you into towns) check out his Heroes Follow In Town mod.
