Total War: Rome II

History

The action takes place during the conflict between the king of the Getae Dromichaetes and the diadochoi Lysimachus of Thrace, succesor of Alexander the Great of Macedon, when the Pentapolis of Pontus Euxinus, Greek-City States of the Black Sea withstand the sieges of Lysimachus and ally themselves with Dromichaetes who defeats Lysimachus several times, takes him captive but treats him like a guest and releases him acknowledging his superiority and his might, thus most of the Greek-City States return to Dromichaetes.

Some, like Odessos, Apollonia Pontica and Mesembria remain on Lysimachus' side. Callatis and Histria choose to return to the Getae influence because they are the best to trade with. Callatis resists heroically for a few years of siege and Histria defeats an invasion of the Scythians.

Later Callatis will face the fury of the Bastarnae, the cunning of Mithridates of Pontus and the rage of the Romans. shortly it will be under the rule of the later and get influenced by them but finally will be conquered back by the Odrysians and much later will join willingly or not the wrath of Burebista against Tyras and Olbia, who hasn't been conquered even by Alexander through Zopyrion, his general. Odessos on the other hand, will acknowledge the might of Lysimachus of Thrace and commerce will flourish.

In the area Celts will establish a base on top of a hill called Tyle, now Arkovna and near Dionysopolis, built during Lysimacus' reign, Scythians will take their final refuge. They lived near Callatis as well, in Scythia Minor in small kingdoms, minting their own coins but the great majority retreated in Moesia. Krobyzoi are the oldest inhabitants in Scythia Minor but many more people live there, for instance the Celts of Aegyssus, Noviodunum, Arrubium and Aliobrix, the Bastarnae of the Peuce Island from the golf that will become the Danube Delta, Greeks and Macedonians of Apollonia Pontica, Mesembria, Dionysopolis, Odessos, Callatis, Histria, Tomis, Orgame, Tyras, Borysthenes and Olbia who will come later on under the influence of the Dacian king Burebista who will also be called king of Thrace as written on a stele in Dionysopolis. In the west he will defeat the Boii, Taurisci and Scordisci.

The Celtic Anarti and Serdi of Serdica, today Sofia will become influenced by Thracians and Dacians while the Dacian Costoboci by the Celts living and trading in Transylvania this is why gear from all parts of the world is represented. Later on, during Decebalus, the Sarmatian Roxolani will arrive with their cataphracts. Thracians are concentrated around the Bessi, their priests, in Seuthopolis and near Odessos, which is Greek with Macedonian influence. Around Odessos many more people live including Getae, Celts and Scythians. Even if at first the Celts were belligerent later on they became peaceful and lived for a century under their own rule.

The tomb of Dromichaetes is situated south of the Danube, in today Bulgaria which means he had an influence over the Moesians as well, not to mention his word to say in the Black Sea region. The Pentapolis consisted of Apollonia Pontica, Mesembria, Odessos, Callatis and Histria. For Apollonia and Mesembria I couldn't find too much evidence other than that they worshipped Apollo as did the Callatians and they get generic units while Odessos, Histria and Callatis are much better represented. Anyone can use the units as they please but give credits if you want, it's always appreciated for all the hard work.
