Tomb raider 2013 this game...
is probably the gold standard for the action adventure genre.
Excelling in all aspects of game development only surpassed by
its sequels rise and shadow of the tomb raider so modding wise
this is hallowed ground, never the less...
This package contains some tweaks realized with 3dmigoto and sweetfx.

update 11/07/2021

- changed sweetfx to reshade 4.3.0
  the 32bit version of sweetfx causes the CreateDXGIFactory2
  error on windows 10
- update 3dmigoto to version 1.3.16
- added 2 shader tweaks
  reduce excessive global illumination bloom and god ray
  reduce cumlative bloom effect rim light
- remove the bump pass still adds relief to textures
  however less noisy
- tested with windows 10 (1903)

3dmigto tweaks contain:
- remove glow shiny objects walkie talkie etc
- remove boekah effect
- reduce distance fog density
- remove waterdrops (overlay)
- reduce excessive global illumination bloom and god ray
- reduce cumlative bloom effect rim light

Further a reshade tone map re-balances brightness plus removes a slight
yellow tint and a 'poor mans form of tessellation' gives the assets
(cars, environment, etc) a bit of relief plus more definition and finally
applied smaa (so disable AA in game).

Optional variation:
option B, contains shaderfixes no reshade. See screenshots for example.

Note:
I normally have the game running on 'exclusive fullscreen' unfortunately
I had to change this to make screenshots.

- install

Copy the contents of the zip file to the install folder of
tomb raider 2013, the folder which contains TombRaider.exe.

- optional install

If you do not like using unverified dll's you can download 3dmigoto from
https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases
download version 1.3.16 (32bit) and place the following dlls in the install dir of tomb raider 2013
d3d11.dll
d3dcompiler_46.dll
d3dx.ini
then copy ShaderCache and ShaderFixes from the zip file to the same dir aka folder.

download reshade from
https://reshade.me/
install *only* dxgi.dll (32bits) to the install dir aka folder of tomb raider 2013.
Then copy the reshade folder plus ReShade.ini and dxgi.ini
from the package to the install dir of tomb raider 2013.

- verify

After running the game the folder ShaderFixes should contain the .bin versions:

This means that the file(s) .txt have been compiled by 3dmigoto (d3d11.dll)


For reshade:
Press 'F1' in game to toggle reshade shaders on or off
or press 'shift F2' and use reshades gui to toggle
shaders of. Toglling originalbeforesplit and splitscreen_tech
on gives a vertical splitscreen (right side shaders on left
side shaders of).

Tested with version 1.0.722.3 (dx11) of tomb raider 2013 on win 7 / nvidia 1050gtx ti
Note: this is a combination of sweetfx (last version, isno longer in development)
and 3dmigoto (32bits) 1.3.16

update 11/07/2021 also tested with windows 10 (1903)

- performance

reshade / 3dmigoto gpu usage [email protected]*
without - clock 1772Mhz gpu usage ~60%
with       - clock 1772Mhz gpu usage ~70%
approximately 10% increase (1050gtx ti on win 7)
max gpu: 1772Mhz gpu usage 100%
*) Game is capped to 51.2 sync forced off through nvidia inpsector

- further tweaking

Normally (alas I no longer have the originals of some shaders)...
If you like you can compare the modified shader, ShaderCache contains
the original shader, to alter values.
