Here are some other random tips for using furry mods.

Removing Legs and Tails from Mermaids:
If you furry legs and tails to mermaids, they will still appear in the mermaid form, which looks really weird. You can easily fix this by 'unlinking' them, allowing you to remove the legs and tail from the mermaid form without removing them from the humanoid form. You unlink them by pressing the chain link icon above the mermaid's portrait in CAS when you have that sim selected.

Making other Tattoos Semi-Compatible
Other CC that takes up the same body location slots as fur patterns are incompatible with furry mods, but some can be made compatible without issue by moving them to another body slot. For example, if you want to give a tiger shark Aqueduct Gills, you won't be able to give that sim Tiger Stripes because they take the same Lower Back slot. But, if you relocate the gills to the Upper Back slot, you can have gills and Tiger Stripes! Doing this is simple, but requires Sims 4 Studio.

  • Open the non-furry CC in Sims 4 Studio
  • Open the 'Categories' menu on the right
  • Change 'Outfit Type' to something that isn't used by any Furry Tattoos (such as Upper Back). See below tip for help identifying other open slots
  • Press 'Apply to All Swatches'
  • Save the file

Separating Fur Pattern Slots

I found that it can sometimes be difficult to determine which body parts fur patterns can be used with each other (use different body location slots). You can use Sparrow's Tidy Details and Tattoos to add dividers into the Face details and Tattoos sections that tell you which slot each furry part takes up, and so which can be used with each other.

Managing Broken Digitigrade Legs

Many pants will break digitigrade legs. It is theoretically possible to fix this with Sims 4 Studio, but it is a very complicated process, and so far I've only used it to fix the games 'nude' pants. For now, it's best to stick to pants that work properly. Most short or tight-fitting pants have little to no clipping, along with skirts. Some very bulky pants, such as bell-bottoms, also look okay. One unavoidable problem is with the female default underwear, which will always break the legs when editing female sim's tattoos. You can fix this by replacing the default underwear with CC such as SOFTE.

Semi-Genetic Furry-ness
I don't think it's possible to make children of furry sims automatically fully inherit their parents furry features, but you can (kind of) make some of them be passed along. This requires MCCC.
  • Open the MCCC menu on a computer
  • Go to 'MC CAS'
  • Go to 'Offspring...'
  • Set 'Use Parent Skintones' and 'Use Parent Skin Details' to true
This should result in the blank white skin tone for furry sims being auto applied to your sim's children, and they should inherit most of their parents body parts (feet, tails, heads, etc) when they age up to teenagers.
You can now user my Sim Furrifier mod to make furryness fully genetic.
