The Sims 4

I will use this article to post how it's going at the end of each production day, well, try, not sure if I will keep it. Also, I don't want to spam updates in this mod, so I'll wait a big progress to do it.

Note that images here use Sims4studio and does not have a lot of effects and is a lot glitchy.

- Also: PRETTY CAKES!! They don't change much when I try to show it all, but they got a lot better.

Show
- Finished Realm of Magic.
- Started Eco Lifestyle. It may take a while since all craftables need a lot of texture cleaning.
- All foods are done
- All Seltzers will have a new model like all sodas have. They don't appear in the object, so it's not going to be heavy.

(design not final)

Spoiler:
Show
- Started Realm of Magic, it's like, 5 images, so I'm doing other packs too, there's probably base game stuff to do and maybe eco lifestyle?

Update 46:
Spoiler:
Show
- Discover university is now done!
There wasn't much to do since their files are in the base game for some reason, but here the new things:
Chocolate croissant, very similar to the normal one but have a chocolate thing when your sim eat.

Cinnamon Bun, surprisingly it wasn't a problem to upscale:

Extra, Pizza rolls and avocado toast, two things that I've never seen in game but looks nice:

There's more to do for other packs tomorrow, probably eco lifestyle or realm of magic

Update 45:
Spoiler:
Show
- I'm finally doing it again! Here some stuff:
All cans are done and redone so it don't use the object data anymore. Only missing the Seltzers now.

- Some base game foods has been done too, not sure if it's all base game but here it is:

Dev. Update 44 (Cottage Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- Almost everything is done, it just need  to do the milks and treats.
- Fixed Cheese having weird dots at the top (It's actually the honey cake effects)
- Fixed Watermelon salad having weird shine.
Here some stuff:

Dev. Update 43 (Cottage Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- I'm foreseeing a lot of stuff to do, thankfully the base game have some stuff so I can start doing it now. (Done)
- Anyway, it's going fine for texture but the drawings in the flour and sugar sack +  the jams are a bit weird but it's good in game (kinda).

Dev. Update 42 (Cans Update):
Spoiler:
Show
- So... Even with a new custom nice texture, I still don't like how it looks, like, really, I just wanted one can that looks like a can and now it have a new mesh:

It may looks weird here, but it's cool in game:

Dev. Update 41 (Game Update):
Spoiler:
Show
- Added all new update stuff, just noticed the new stuff when I read the new patch notes after posting the new update.
- The Palak Paneer serving have a part going out of the plate, this mod have a model replacer to fix it now:

- Butter Chicken had swapped normal maps, it's now fixed.
- Chocolate Mouse already have the same size as this mod foods and don't need changes.
If you look at the whiter part of the orange, you will see how weirdly blurry it is, at least it's finished.

Dev. Update 40 (City Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finished, mod size increased from 101mb to 119.
- Time to test and create the screenshot, I'll post it soon.

Dev. Update 39 (City Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- Just a some more drink and foods and it will be done.
- The rice from a lot of foods has been changed with a better one.
- Burrito now have depth texture so it look more detailed.
- Here the Sakura Tea:

The metal border has been fixed from a glitched look of the original. It don't show liquid there but it does in the game, don't worry.

Dev. Update 38 (City Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- More stuff is done, it will still take some more time to finish but it's going well.
- Bhel Puri is looking amazing

- Curry didn't changed much but I replaced the rice with a better one.

Dev. Update 37 (City Living):
Spoiler:
Show
- Starting City Living, it's going to be a bit slow since I'm a lot busy recently.
- Finally discovered where they used the paper plates and bowls.
- Some stuff are kinda confusing but nothing hard like before (until now)
Here some food called "sample":

Dev. Update 36 (Paranormal, My First Pet, Fitness and Vintage):
Spoiler:
Show
- Last update, I accept my defeat, that drink is too messy for me, no matter what I did, it's upscaled but shitty.
- Did Vintage Stuff since it was quite small, just a bunch of liquids and a crystal bottle.
Here how the Paranoral drink ended like:

I'll post it soon, just need some checks.

Dev. Update 35 (Paranormal, My First Pet and Fitness)
Spoiler:
Show
- Fitness and my first pet is done.
- Fitness drink looks horrible and the depth texture had horrible black dots everywhere, it's fixed but I've never actually have even seen it in the game so... maybe it's not even used...
- My first pet actually looks quite nice with a interesting shine.
- Just need to finish the specter sip, apparently it will not be very different from the update 13 version (a little less messy for sure) wanted to keep the creepy, vintage or whatever vibe, but I have no clue on how it should look.
- Apparently there's a candy that your sim takes to eat while eating from the candy jar, but I can't find the texture anywhere... I'll try to extract the game files, to find it (unless it's again in another pack)
- In general it looks great, the candy jar was cleaned with help of Blender, it's now free of seams that the game have. (Except the fitness thing, it looks way too weird and I'm not in the mood to fix a thing that I've never seem in 2000 hours playing this game)

Dev. Update 34 (Paranormal, My First Pet and Fitness):
Spoiler:
Show
- This will be small, paranormal, fitness and my first pet stuffs.
- Fitness only have one energy drink and my first pet have two potions that share textures.
- Paranormal is the type of pack that use a very weird texture and end up going all messed, for example the new drink:

This honestly have a lot to do and clean, the candy jar have 10 textures with all the same small issues and not feeling well to do anything more than play... at least the ectocake was easy.
It will take some time...

Dev. update 33 (DLC Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finished Get to Work, it was less than I expected.
- A lot of things has been redone, like, really, it's a lot better, especially the white and blurry stuff.
- One that I recreated was a brownie that had coconut on it. It upscales in a total blur, so I tried to do myself. You also can see that the leaf color is changed to fit the original. (It's a mint leaf by the way)

- A lot of small things changed too, like the cookies drawings that for some reason became an abomination, of course it was cleaned and all but was still a mess (I'm still keeping my flower cookie, since the other one was messed even in the new upscaler.)

-I'll post soon, just need to test and recreate the screenshots.
Edit: It's taking more than I wanted, did the testings and found some floating points (probably have more somewhere), and started doing prints but I have to summon the foods one by one with cheats since it don't appear on buy mode...

Dev. update 32 (DLC Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Since Get to Work is massive, I decided to do the others.
- Finished everything already, there wasn't much more.
- Revised some base game stuff too, it should fix even more stuff.

For who still didn't understood what is the problem (Well, more than some ugly upscales), there is a thing in a image called 'alpha'(probably what gave the alpha hairs that name), it's basically the transparency applied in a photo, because of that I don't had much control or way to test it easily and a lot of colors and important stuff are hidden there. Thing is that the game use color and alpha separately  (even if it's the same image) causing some issues.
The previous upscaler cause the colors with transparency to disappear, creating a lot of black borders and stuff and I had to clean it all the time making it lose even more details(and a lot of time). Here is part of the sushi texture as an example:

Even if you can't see all that color mess from the previous look it's still really messed. The white borders are parts that I removed to fix the black borders but it's all fixed and has been applied to all transparencies now.

Dev. update 31 (DLC Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Did cats and dogs and Get Famous, there wasn't much stuff to fix there, it's fine.
- Starting Get to Work, there's a lot to do here since the previous upscaler messed with a bunch of difficult textures.
- One example is a... donut? Not sure what is this, but in the previous version it had a lot of artifacts.

(this is not the original mesh, the original don't have a hole in the middle)
An absolute mess, you can see a lot of blue artifacts in the white parts, wrong color in the chocolate shine as well a lot less details, the new one fix a lot of it... mostly, still a bit too messy for my taste but it's not getting any better.

Dev. update 30 (DLC Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Doing the DLCs clean now, started with Batuu.
- It's all done already, it was annoying to do some since they are grey where it shouldn't for some reason.
- The biggest change is in the Batuu Bon, it didn't upscaled well in the Batuu brooch (or whatever it is) so I recreated with the help of a ingame icon.

It don't have all that detailed lightning that it have in the original but have depth and stuff. The important part is that now the "towers" have visually a diagonal top that just don't exist in the original.
Don't worry about blurry edges, it actually disappear in game and force it to make the borders more round.

Dev. update 29 (Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Base game changes is complete now, just need some checks and I'll post it.
- Tons of stuff has been redone, thing should add a lot of lost details, blurs, and new effects.
- Things with black borders should be fine now (probably) and with their correct sizes. My main fear now are random points floating around stuff.
- For comparison, here the Vegetable Dumplings in game version, how it was and how it is now:

Basically like it is in the original, but without wrong colors on the pasta an looking a lot less blurry.
Maybe not the best before and after image about the original but a good one to compare with the previous mod look.

Dev. update 28 (Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
- Last update for this year, no images this time.
- I did a break since I'm doing it for some months in a row but already did a lot of new stuff now (in the texture 130 of 200, not all need changes since I'm mostly fixing only the ones with transparency ( messed it a bit with my other upscaler).
- It's going fine, hope that in the start of 2021 it will be out.
- I also will need to fix the mod screenshots now, since a lot of stuff are different. (cakes, pancakes, hamburger, even the ambrosia changed a bit)

Dev. update 27 (Texture Fix):
Spoiler:
Show
-So I decided to do a full base game clean, no new DLC this time but things will looks better now.
- Things like the Pancake, BLT and tuna casserole that have darker texture in some points and is quite messed, is now a lot more like the original look.

Dev. update 26:
Spoiler:
Show
-Fixing a lot of food that had issues
- The tomato looked a lot ugly so I decided to change but not sure if I'll keep it.

- But in game it looks good...

Dev. update 25 (Cats and Dogs - Seasons - Get Famous - Spa Day FINAL):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finished Get Famous and Spa Day
- Fixed Super Salad model not having proper transparency.
- Redone the coconut cake texture (partially) so it don't looks like a white mess.
- I'll post soon, just need to test if it's all working.

Dev. update 24 (Cats and Dogs - Seasons - Get Famous):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finished Seasons, foods, drinks and even the honey.
- I'll start another DLC after Get Famous, it's still too small.
- Changed the chicken portion texture, it should look less chaotic, but it's not that much better.
- Fixed the Chimi texture having black borders
- The breakfast looks great:

Dev. update 23 (Cats and Dogs - Seasons - Get Famous):
Spoiler:
Show
- Still creating seasons, the texture is quite difficult to handle
- Managed to find a better upscaler for some specific stuff and expect for the things to be a lot better now.
- Fixed baked potato missing depth
- Fixed yakissoba horrible texture and hope to fix more in the future.

- It also helped making the ham:

Dev. update 22 (Cats and Dogs - Seasons - Get Famous):
Spoiler:
Show
- Started all that DLCs since they don't have that much stuff.
- Did a clean in all packs, no unnecessary files for merged and separated versions now.
- Did a fix in some texture too like the onion.
- Cats & Dogs is done, including pet treats!

Dev. update 21 (Snowy Escapade - Final):
Spoiler:
Show
- Everything seems to be done, had to redrawn the cans but they keep what they are, just in HD.
- Will do some tests before posting because I discovered that keeping the models in the .package was glitching a lot of stuff for this dlc, also discovered a way to do the clean from the merged version in the separated one, so maybe it will be fixed in the 4.0, but surely in 5.0. (Also resulting in a big model clean for merged too)
- Here some of my recreations:

(I don't like how the white mountain looks in the blue one but I didn't managed to make it better)

Dev. update 20 (Snowy Escapade):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finally did the can, it's not 100% how I wanted but looks a lot better
- All previous cans that had model replacement will be replaced (again) with the new texture to prevent bugs.
- The look is not final, I plan adding more shine to looks more metallic. Update: it have a bit more shine but the game don't seems to like to add metallic shine in grey parts.

- A look on the upgraded previous cans (This is a comparison with the game ones, you can see the old version on update 10)
I don't LOVE the new look but it's honestly a lot better.

Dev. update 19 (Snowy Escapade):
Spoiler:
Show
- Changed a LOT of stuff.
- All snowy Escapade's food is done, the majority of the stuff looks good but I really don't like the yakissoba (+ variants) and it's way too hard to fix it.

(It looks better in the normal game distance with proper effects, but I still don't like it)

- Started drinks (soda can stuff) and I can't replace the model like usual because it apparently just glitch hard, so I'll have to create the texture, sadly the whole thing sucks and it's not going well. (Once one is done, the others will be a lot easier)

(don't worry about the blue things on white parts, it will be fixed, I just need time to do the whole thing)

- Added a new thing in the other soda can, it have ingame depth and all but I'm not satisfied with and looks too much out of place.

Dev. update 18 (Snowy Escapade):
Spoiler:
Show
- Started Snowy Escapade
- A lot of food is already done, it seems to be going fine.
- Fixed low resolution from the taco depth texture.
- Some may looks fine in the original but in game the shine and stuff looks terrible. (Well, not anymore)

Dev. update 17 (Get to Work - Final):
Spoiler:
Show
- Everything for GTW should be finished now.
- Fixed pixelated croissant
- Fruit Tart was completely changed because his texture sucks:

- Cute pies and cake

- I remember doing something else but I've forgot...

Dev. update 16 (Get to Work):
Spoiler:
Show
- Still making the food behemoth that is this DLC, a lot of foods are done and now I started some stuff used in the animations but there's still food to do.
- Fixed plate having a low resolution depth texture.
- Changed the butter in the baking tray to be more yellow, without the weird white lines.

- Although not everything was going like I wanted, the bread was one that I really liked the result.

- Not a big difference but I just discovered about this rainbow cake:

Dev. update 15 (Get to Work):
Spoiler:
Show
- Late update but I have big news! For a while, I wasn't very happy with the current state of some stuff and started searching for others programs, today I've found a random option that turned off a big issue, making the creation of some stuff a lot better and easier.
- One example is this brownie, the AI was cleaning all the crackings making it plain and boring. Now although it don't seem much different (since the texture is fine for this) the cracks are back, making it way more like the original with all details.
Note: the leaf was changed for a less shitty one in the upscale. (It was changed from "I don't know what is this mess" to a mint leaf)

- Even thing that would took a long time and maybe be fully redrawn was done a lot easier.

Dev. update 14 (Get to Work):
Spoiler:
Show
- Started Get to Work.
- All drinks are done. (Well, there's only 2...)
- Fixed the plate texture because some details was kinda off.
- Merged version now don't have any file that don't have something to do about the food, this should fix things like english names in other languages, probably remove the modded icon in the foods and add a lot of compatibility with other mods.
- Did a lot of cookies!
- One in specific wasn't upscaling properly, so I did a new one based on something that my drawing skills allow me to. (It have it's proper shine and stuff to not just look like a drawing, don't worry)

Dev. update 13 (Get Together):
Spoiler:
Show
- Finished all Get Together stuff, including some props
- Fixed depth textures (like the coffee for example) not showing up properly.
- Fixed Pita and Humus model that don't have proper transparency.

- This pack have a lot of cute foods, never noticed that.

Dev. update 12 (Get Together):
Spoiler:
Show
-Almost finished, just need some more foods.
- Nothing much to say, so here's a cannoli:

Dev. update 11 (Get Together):
Spoiler:
Show
- Get Together started
- All Drinks done
- Fixed small Coffee-in-the-mug texture
- Fixed Pollo a la Brasa black borders in the fries.
- Redone secondary coffee in the mug texture because in the original texture look, it seemed spoiled but the files call it "Milk coffee", so I'm changing it. (No matter what I do, I can't find any way to make that texture to appear(even with debug cheats), so I'm guessing that it's really it.)

- Redone the teacup foam because it looked weird and too white (Also added a depth on it to not look weird)

Dev. update 10:
Spoiler:
Show

- All drinks are finally finished.
- Base game's "To Go" coffee is done, it will probably change for all dlcs too, it  have a new depth map for the liquid swirl and less pee color too.

- Cans were looking awful too, upscaling wasn't working well so I used another model, replaced the can texture and recreated lines as writings because now it have size for this. Can you read the simlish?

Dev. update 9:
Spoiler:
Show
- Over 50 files, they took a long time to put all files and fix it, so it's quite the advance.
- Did some more stuff, like some cans, base game potions and stuff like that.
- It's going well I guess.

Sorry for my messed up anti-aliasing on the thing of the drinks, it's actually smooth.
And yes, I did noticed the tiny green dot, I'm going to fix it later it's already fixed.

Dev. update 8:
Spoiler:
Show
- There's something like 60~90 files for general drinks, although it have multiple textures, it seems like I did all drinks in one file(update: I didn't), but I'm going to do all just in case and for the separated version.
- Did a red cup and the coffee too. (The coffee seems to have worked for all)
- Bar drinks liquid seems to looks weird in a sharp look, so I added a blur to feel more liquid:

(Rendered on blender because sims4studio wasn't helping, also, cleaning mostly only remove the unwanted colors like red, so it's not very different from the current image.)

Dev. update 7:
Spoiler:
Show
- Finally all files have their proper depth textures.
- Upscaled City Living ramen(pan and other objects) and one cats and dog food.
- Finally I can start doing the drinks.

Dev. update 6:
Spoiler:
Show
- 173 of 339 files are done, some just need to be put in the package.
- All "big"(4 and 8 stack) files are done.
- Slightly remade the pizza texture to fix a small dark spot in the border.
- In game it looks good.

Dev. update 5:
Spoiler:
Show
- Tons of depth texture done.
- All new update food is done, with their depth texture.
They was kinda difficult to do honestly, even had to replace some stuff (I hate doing meat and chicken). Tried my best to look good.

Dev. update 4:
Spoiler:
Show
- I didn't had done the normal maps and it was making the stuff both HD and pixelated... so, now it's going to be a normal map update for a while.
- The stuff I did for the DLCS are done for normal maps.
- Redid some textures because they are "inupscalable" but I'm not sure if should I, here some before and after:

Baked potato (I didn't managed to make good yellow lines, so I added the tomato/meat stuff)

Cereal:

Dev. update 3:
Spoiler:
Show
- 98 new files done.
- All base game foods are done now.
- Bottles, Knife and other utensils.
- Pet stuff? I only edited base game content...

Dev. update 2:
Spoiler:
Show
- 65 new files done
- All cutting tables
- Grill stuff

Also, I've found the cooking book and noticed some ugly blur, this makes me want to do an "A.I. upscaled books" in the future

- 2 or 3 foods.
- What a pretty watermelon
