    Terraformed ReShade Final!

    Better overall balance and performance! It's a little bit easier on the eyes and your PC.
    Version v1.0 included for your convenience.

    I've tested this preset enough to know that this one is final. More variants may become available in the future.

    Feel free to comment below. Feedback is welcome and encouraged. Enjoy!

    Some last minute experimental tweaks

    You can try replacing the values in the "Terraformed ReShade v1_1.ini" file with the ones below.

    For a touch of softness (If playing below 4K resolution with CA disabled)

    [CAS.fx]
    Sharpness=0.750000

    For a sharper adaptation effect (True black levels)

    [EyeAdaption.fx]
    fAdp_Strength=1.000000
    fAdp_Delay=0.707107
    fAdp_DarkenMidtones=0.265625
    fAdp_BrightenMidtones=0.531250
    fAdp_TriggerRadius=7.000000
    fAdp_DarkenHighlights=0.000000
    fAdp_BrightenHighlights=-0.183594
    fAdp_Equilibrium=0.734375
    fAdp_BrightenShadows=-0.367188
    fAdp_DarkenShadows=-0.183594

    P.S. - Sorry this is a bit late. Haven't had time to play the game all week. >_<

    Great reshade, glad you don't use the RT Global Illumination shader, it just looks makes all the hairs look awful in this game. Updates to latest reshade without issue , which is 4.7.0 at time of this writing, just overwrite the dxgi.dll, compiles a bit faster at startup. Endorsed.

    I can't find my engine.ini file. I installed the game on my d drive and the epic games launcher is on my main C drive.

    Edit: I found 2 engine.ini files. What should the ini have in it besides what's written on the main mod page?

    There's this zoom effect, like the image is cast onto a ball, so it stretches inwards a bit, what is that and can it be turned off?

      It's some kind of parallax effect, and the reason I came here to post, but you beat me to it.
      Super annoying flipping through the before and afters, probably give me a headache playing with it...
      Otherwise it does look like an improvement in most comparisons, and would download.

      That's the FishEyeCA effect. When it's set to a subtle amount, as I've done, the image will have a curvature that's similar to the human eye lens. Some modern monitors/TV's have curved screens if you haven't noticed, but for those of us on flat screens this will improve the perception of the image. Yeah, it's strange at first, but once you get used to it you'll realize how boring a completely flat image looks.

    OUTSTANDING ReShade, my friend.
    The vanilla colors/contrasts were giving me a headache (almost literally). This greatly improves the game's overall look and feel. The textures/details actually come out a lot more, now!
    Thank you so much!
    Endorsed!

    Has anyone reached out to Microsoft or Obsidian about adding mod support to those of us who wanted to support the developer the most? I would love to use this reshade and am planning to reach out tomorrow. And to the author, is there a way to get this when purchased thru MS?

      People have been complaining about MS store and this problem for years, and Micro$oft knows and has refused to change their policy.

      My best advice is to avoid MS if you care about mods, as this game is not exclusive to MS (purchase via Epic Games Store or wait for Steam version later this year).

      There is one other possibility, but it's a long shot. There's a program called "IObit Unlocker" that seems to have worked for one person.

    In almost every screenshot I enjoy the Vanilla one more. But I appreciate you giving options to people who want it to look different. Good job!

      I find it disappointing that someone would base their conclusions on a few outdated screenshots that I posted (my fault, they aren't from the current version) and not even bother to try this ReShade for at least 5 minutes to see why it's one of the highest rated mods for this game. Sorry, but that seems a bit naive. This ReShade provides a considerable improvement over vanilla, and to some it might not be so obvious in a random image capture.

      With that being said, I don't find much value in your post, and it appears to be nothing more than an attempt to discredit my efforts. Adding more clutter to the comments section is all you've accomplished here. You've been a member since 2011 and did not give a good impression on your first post.

    It does look amazing when applied at 4k. Playing on a 1440p monitor, the effects were rather underwhelming, quite frankly, even after having tweaked the sharpening and disabled chromatic effects. It was for whatever reason blurry. Not really complaining given that the base game was exceptionally ugly.

    However, using 4k, it really did shine.

      Thanks! Yes, it's true. The sharpening method that I use (CAS) seems to be optimized for 4K. I chose that method due to performance reasons, but I'm currently researching a new method that will be used in future presets.

    Hey there, first of all thanks for the nice reshade :)

    I have a question depending the dof... is it possible to change the adjustion time of it? I mean when u are looking at a objekt close by, its changing kind of instand. is there a value i can change so that it´s adapting more smooth ^^ sorry if this is kind of a dump question. im not so much into this stuff.

    thanks.

      You're welcome, I'm glad you like it.

      My skills aren't great enough to implement a "Fadetimer" into the DOF code, similar to what was done in the ENB Series.
      It was actually done in the binary code (e.g. d3d9.dll), and not the shader code itself, but you've inspired me to learn!

      Thanks for inquirying about this issue that most people (myself included) have overlooked.

    Am I stupid or does the DOF affect the menus too?

      It's a hit or miss, as it can interfere with certain overlays like the HUD or menus, but it comes in handy for screenshots especially.
      There's no way to fix that, unless someone can program the in-game DOF to work the same way as the ReShade method.
      Use the toggle key "PageDown" at your own discretion.

      DOF in Reshade (as many other effects in it) is not even close in terms of customization, as it's in ENB for games like Skyrim or Fallout 4. As Vanguard said, that's how it is :)

      @DonProtein,

      Gotta love that enbeffectprepass.fx.

      The key is that ENB does a prepass, not a postprocess like ReShade. In case anyone wonders why ENB behaves nicely with HUD/Menu overlays.
