AT THE MOMENT DUE TO NEW UPDATE THE MOD IS DEAD AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY
    NO FUTURE UPDATES

I have just uploaded new upgraded and expanded mod here:
Rifle ammunition Upgrade and Weapons plus Equipment weight rebalance
    if you wish to try.

Addition of the real firearms weapons weight to Akoniis mod.

    • For as long as he do not make his own or make major change.
    • I might not be willing to constantly rework the mod, as it takes too much
time. Thus it might me either temporary mod or Akoniis might decide to incorporate it into his one and then it will be discontinued
    • It will be removed if Akoniis asks for it

Main idea was modification for my own use but I decided to publish it for
the benefit of fellow hunters. As stated above - it is quite likely just
    temporary mod.

    Happy hunting

Any chance of posting a list of the revised weights?

I'm curious if you'd change the F.L. Sporter at all, as it's already pretty accurate to the real world rifle's weight.
The real world version is the Enfield No.4 Mk1 in the Monte Carlo sporter configuration. I have a similar one IRL, but only partially sporterized. Still has full length 25" barrel, and factory stock, total weight about 8 pounds, about 3.63 Kg without the standard 10 round mag filled. I'm guessing the Monte Carlo is about 7 pounds (3.17 Kg) with wood furniture, and probably 6 pounds (2.72 Kg) with the polymer stock setup.

That does make me wonder, does your mod make polymer stock rifles lighter than their wooden counterparts? It's one of those prices you pay IRL, choosing the elegance of a wooden stock, but added weight, or the utilitarian looking all-weather polymer to save weight.

I can't really speak for most of the guns in this game, as the only one I actually have IRL is the Enfield No.4 Mk1. I'm also curious if you adjusted sight/optic weights. I use my Enfield for long range hunting (350 yards and beyond, mostly coyote in the desert) IRL, and so I run a 4-14x44mm FFP optic, and it's 1.5 pounds (0.68 Kg), quite a bit heavier than the 8-16x optic in this game. Of course, my optic isn't super fancy, and I know higher end optics can be pretty light compared to their economical counterparts. Still, would be neat to see lighter sights/optics weigh less than the general "0.5 Kg" this game does for pretty much every bit of gear.

I think it'd be really cool to see a proper mod project where each gun is assigned realistic weight, realistic ballistics arcs and zeros, and for the love of all that is holy, make soft-points actually hit hard. Seriously, soft points in this game are like shooting spitballs, totally ineffective. I don't even run them anymore in the game because they're so useless. The irony is I load my cartridges with soft points IRL, and they are plenty effective. I'd change so much about this game if I knew how.

Hi, I am now finishing the new version of the mod. I am not weighting every gram of the weight although I went through the real world weapons, scopes etc. to find real properties. Thus i.e. weapons with wooden stocks are usually heavier than those with polymer ones.

Weight of the scopes is as well based on the real declared ones with weight of the mount included wherever the declared weight is only for the scope itself and is not provided as a set (mostly is the case of the scopes by respectable manufacturers that are used on different weapons with different mountings)

I will add link here in the description and sticky post to the new version

There was new update that changed files.
So far my tools do not make new game files readable, thus I cannot change it and for some time I am too busy to spend time modding. Sorry
Akoniis mod is still working to some extent, and it includes weapons' weight, but you won't be able to use .303 rifle as it is not ready for it.
You will in that case have to wait till he update his original mod.

How come so many people are making those mods that modify .bin files? Is there are tool to make it more "human readable" or it really raw hex editing?
I wanna help the community and make a few mods that modify .bin files but I just can't handle raw hex editing...
    Thank you!

And btw, your mod looks great so good job! =D

mod's creator included link to his video where he shows how to use some tools. So far I used one tool set that exports some files into text file but for value change I used original ones and hex editing. I am noob in this field and I was not interested in some major modding so I took first way I was able to find. Maybe there is more convenient one and tool that unpacked files packs back into game ones.

Yes, I'm aware of DECA and other extracting tools, I know it can extract .bin files as is or extract them as .txt in a more "human readable" format.
However, I have no idea how can I take into account this info inside the .txt so I can identify fields more easily while hex editing the .bin.
Could you please give a bit more info on how you're able to identify and edit the right fields in hex?
Even if you're not the most skilled modder ever, you still know more than I do lol.
      Thank you!

As we say: "One-eye is still king amongst the blind men"
(just that one eye is also pretty blind)

In a HEX editor (HxD - in my case), i searched for the text string from the extracted file and then value (floating point) in either forward or backward direction both. In this way I had some degree of certainty that i.e.  this particular 4.5 is weight and not other 4.5 of other parameter. Sometime text strings are readable even in this game file, so you know where to expect value.
Of course, save your file, open it with DECA tool and compare it to original one to see whether you hit the right spot. Like export both original and modified one to text file and compare those by content - Total Commander for example has this feature.

If you want to modify several similar objects, try to search one that has some relatively unique value on desired property - search value in that particular text file and if the occurrence is unique or maybe twice. Thus you either know exact position or - trial and error with as little options as possible. That is general searching method.

And on DECA pages and maybe Discord link to APEX engine  modding group there, there was guide (or link to it) how to search values in HEX files as HEX position code was seen in extracted file. I tested it and it work but for this job I did not need it, so I do not recall exact procedure.

I believe you were able to do so because the .bin your mod uses is what DECA calls "RTPC type". I've noticed in this type of .bin it is undoubtedly easier to find the info you need since the values are stored right next to their text string.

However, if the .bin is "type ADF" then it is a totally different scenario. Even the .txt DECA generates looks significantly different. ADF seem to work with big arrays of data so in a nutshell all the data is clustered together in one part of the file and all the text is clustered in another. Then somehow it is able to correlate them both in a very confusing way.

And on DECA pages and maybe Discord link to APEX engine modding group there, there was guide (or link to it) how to search values in HEX files as HEX position code was seen in extracted file. I tested it and it work but for this job I did not need it, so I do not recall exact procedure.
I do know how to search hex using a given address or value+data type, but I'm not entirely sure if that's what you meant. Am I missing something important? Could you please send me this link you're talking about? I was unable to find anything related to that in DECA's GitHub page...

      Thanks again, mate! :)

Yes, exactly. I tried to used real weights whenever possible - in separate file here is document with list of them.
6.5 is actually precision rifle made by Bergara company and it weights around 4-4.5 kg in real life.
Airgun is affected even more, weight doubled as real thing weight almost 6 kg.
On contrary those single shot break action rifles are very light. The one I used as a base has declared weight from 2.4kg and weight range doesn't rise too much even for larger calibers. 4.5 kg was insane as it is weight of the heavy bolt action or double barrel rifle in big bore cartridges designed for dangerous african game.

Other example are shotguns: 4kg O/U is too much for these weapons.
4 kg for SxS 20 gauge is crazy, they are light ones with weight below 3kg
Game Eckers weights 4.5kg, that is more than real life Mauser K98k or M1 Garand - both robust military weapons.

I had dilemma whether to increase weight of the 6.5 mm and change it from lightweight rifle to its real weight but as most of other weapons were lightened (often by fair amount) as well as were i.e. many lures I found it to be OK: Unless you choose very specific loadout, you will be still more lightly packed than in vanilla game.
