This can lead to frame-death on some older PCs.
Not to mention the incentive structure for players to only use AoE weapons.
There is a mod option set to 150 at default, 100 is the minimum allowed.
This mod force checks what the final # of enemies would be.
If that number is too high, it will upgrade all animals of one species to a stronger variant.
Ex. 160 Skarabei attack is now an 80 Poisonous Skarabei attack
This mod will re-check and re-upgrade until an animal grouping is being sent that's under your game option limit.
Special notes:
- All base species have a final form (FF) that is respected by the spawner.
-- Aka the game won't try and spawn a Skarabei attack wave that gets upgraded to <end-game Juno variant>.
-- Skarabei FF attacks will still have more units when compared vs a Juno FF, so it won't turn into "30 units each wave every wave"
The game option is respected until FF is achieved
-- Aka if all Skarabei's have been upgraded to "level 5 Poisonous Explosive Nanite-Injected Skarabei Brute" (This is a hypothetical unit) and the game STILL thinks that 200 of them should be thrown at the player.... well then this mod starts popping popcorn, and rip to your base. ¯\_(:D)_/¯
Each tier is exponentially more difficult to deal with!/
Final Forms are base killers!
They are not fair!
AND I reserve the right to make higher tiers if taunted/shown that they can be dealt with cleanly.
Upgrades
Aka the upgrades will not be a "small" upgrade like base game Skarabei to Skarabei Brute.
Each upgrade should feel close to the jump in difficulty from fightning a Shrieker Hatchling to a Shrieker Broodmother
By default EVERY upgrade grants 2x health & 2x pain tolerance.
THEN species specific upgrade(s) get applied.
Aka Skarabei will gain +10% pierce armour(As they are evolving to be highly resistant to arrows/bullets)
Have fun discovering how each species is evolving to better defeat you!
There are now at least 5 variants of all base animals, to enable significant upgrade paths.
Some special handling was taken for base game animal variants (Like Skarabei Brutes).
They have been rebalanced, and considered a step on the species upgrade path.
Ass new enemry tiers are found, they will require re-observing.
This gives you more vignettes into your colony.... but maybe more importantly and it will give you more details about strengths and weaknesses!
Example of with and without mod
This Mod's Final Form of the Skarabei Species is equivilant to 40 "regular" Skarabei's.
This means a mod option of 100 is respected until the base game calculations "would have sent" 4001 normal Skarabei to attack you!
Then and only then will there be 101+ FF Skarabei to attack you, not a single "Regular" Skarabei in sight.
Note that in reality, any spawn past 400 on PC causes only those 400 to spawn.
So without this mod, any growth your colony makes after this 400 break-point doesn't affect the attack's generated.
BUT GOOD NEWs, this mod really makes your "new" ceiling the 400 FF Skarabei; which is the equivilant of a 16000 "Regular" Skarabei attack.
