Permissions and credits
Hi there!

Sorry for the wall of text. If you don't want to read all my blabbering:
Install instructions are in the downloads and this mod -should be- fully compatible with most other mods, except Freckles/Blush mod (provided you use the lzs packer tool). If you know the lzs tool already, just go ham with the dds files of your choice! The files to replace can be seen in the Vanilla Install folder as reference, which all of these are located in the Steam\DATA\resource_win\disc_test\resource\chara folder. Use the "Change Look" option on an existing save to load your beard texture for Young farmer (they'll load in character creation tho). Middle and Old Farmer should be fine upon loads/exiting the wardrobe.

Teensy update as of 8/26/23: Re-added old header images for better reference.

Little update as of 7/31/23: It seems you can have the Young Farmer's beard texture appear upon an existing save, however, you'd also need to change the dds file of your outfit's tex files too, along with the skin file under each of the 12 lzs files for ch_001_01_body_tex.lzs through ch_001_12_body_tex.lzs. However, when I change each skin dds under each body_tex only, it breaks my older farmer textures under the face_tex files. Maybe they override them. Point is, I'm tired of trying to get my files to cooperate with me when I already have it somewhat working with the current process, so unless you've already found your solution somewhere like Discord or your own trial&error, this is gonna be it on my end. Thank you.

Now then... have you gotten tired of having baby face? As a fully bearded individual, my ass was CRAVING some facial hair, so... I made this. I mean Group C is just a mustache I found on Google, but I think this'll satisfy those desires to give your farmer a more rugged look, despite limitations. I can only do so much for texture edits as I'm a pretty new modder myself and learning as I go. I'd really like to add new facial colors to match the more Vibrant/pastel hair sets that other modders added, but that's a future thing. Maybe even a new style (or something requested, I'm open to suggestions on Discord). Idk

Anyway.

I've updated the files into new groups, though the old files are still there for those who want it, but just understand that you'd need to get the older farmer textures from the new groups if you want beards on your later years! Install instructions are in the downloads. It's mostly the same as the old one, except you're going to replace another 15 files oh joy. You're going to be replacing 16 LZS files in all, so be sure to copy/paste each of the dds files instead of drag/drop.

Those files are the ch001 files for the Player character's 4 face types in all 3 ages (according to Discord, it's for when the game loads your file upon loading an existing save*see note below*) and the charamake_body_tex (for young farmer/character creation), along with the charamake_face_xx files. The raws are there for your needs!

THE NOTE:
Currently, if using an existing save, the young farmer beards will only load if you activate with the dresser/wardrobe/"Change Look" option or will be there when you start a new character (upon loading that save, you need to use dresser). It stays on for the remainder of your playtime, even in cutscenes from what I can see, until you exit the game or reload a save. It -may- break at the Year's end however, as mine did when I time-skipped my test save, just reload at the dresser when you can. The game SHOULD load for the Middle Aged and Old Farmer just fine on existing saves though before accessing the dresser and stays on there too and out of it. (I tested with only Young and Middle Aged actually, but Old farmer doesn't use as many locations as the Young's damn file, so just assuming since Middle Aged works as intended. I'm trying to play at my normal save rate instead of spoiling myself with the time skip journey and I already know the end too, but still... THE JOURNEY)

So, yes, even after installing, you may be wondering if you did it right. I know some don't care about the immersion breaking, but others do and I apologize for that despite the help I've gotten. Not sure where I went wrong on my end when I tested it all with vanilla assets lol. It's possible that the game may work for you and load properly. For me, I can't get the Young face to load into the game with beard texture AT ALL unless dresser is used and can't find out why, despite trial and error and help from Discord. THANK YOU AnyaxForger and Mynt for your extra help with fixing my questions to problems. Somehow still failed one. ha

Other mods ARE compatible, but yes for players new to using custom mods, you'll need to replace your files with the tool, I'm sorry. All this will also work on your Steam Deck, for those wondering. I do all the replacing on my PC first, then just copy to my Deck's directories where the game is located. Works great.

Below is a fun example of mod togetherness replacing the BEARD TEX and SECONDARY EYE LAYER (as you can see the purple in the eyes merging with the base pastel color) on the young farmer's tex file. Just plop your dds files within and repack, drag to chara folder and replace. You can use this to create fun eye combinations, though not sure if you might experience glitches/crashes on occasion. This doesn't edit using the hex editor at all if you wanted to change up your eyes a bit!

Not that anyone cares, BUT, I get super urges to want to alter my appearance in color all the time and it really bothers me sticking to one color set all the time, so I got separate folders that I can drag/drop if I wanted eyes/hair or a more masculine/feminine farmer (like with animations). All seem to work just fine.

Anyway, I hope this will suffice for now. Hope to make more fun stuff in the future!
