Skill Rework
This mod aims to completely rework every Core Skill, Community Skill, and Quirk Skill in the game, providing alternate features and visual changes.

In it's current version, this mod makes changes to all existing skills, including both the Daybreak variants and those exclusive to Heartland. Further features may be gradually implemented. Features being worked on will be listed at the bottom of this page (they may also be done out of order, depending on what my brain decides to focus on.

Heartland
This adds a unique specialization to each Heartland Character for each of their four core skills (with 14 Characters, that's 56 new skills). Additionally, all of their Community Skills have been altered (for better or worse), so they may actually feel different to play (though their overall functionality remains unchanged).

Daybreak
As mentioned, this mod also alters the Daybreak Skills, keeping the relevant nerfs that the game mode intends (such as not gaining increased Consumable or Ammo Stack Sizes), while maintaining both the general functionality improvement and visual overhaul present. To distinguish these skills from the Red Talon Specializations present within the Campaign mode, the Daybreak Skills maintain their default names (Prowess, Tactics, Heroism, Warfighting).

Balancing
This mod aims to provide balance between specializations and, as such, "Balance Breaker" effects have been evenly distributed (such as all Cardio and Wits specializations providing an additional Pocket). A complete list of all changes can be found in the (currently outdated) README Document. This should allow for more diverse build variety, while still maintaining unique benefits for each specialization (excluding the Red Talon Specializations, which are now, without question, the best of the best).
There is currently an outdated "ReadMe" file that may or may not be accurate. Currently in the process of being written are more accurate (and updated) descriptions of skills, which will be listed as Articles for ease of access.

Compatibility
This will conflict with any mod that alters the same files as this mod. Use your Load Order correctly in order to preserve your desired effects. If the Overhaul Core is being overwritten then this may not function correctly. However, due to the way this is implemented, the skills will still have their intended effects listed, even if they are not being applied. An easy check for this (if you are incapable or simply do not want to look at your mod conflicts), is to see if you are gaining Stamina/Health from the Physique/Fighting skills.

Notes
  • If you experience any game-breaking bugs, find any text issues, or believe that something may not be functioning, feel free to leave a bug report, and I will get to them as soon as I can. This is my first mod, and I am not very experienced, so it may take longer than you (or I) would like.
  • If you have any suggestions for changes, please post it here or mention it to me in the Discord server (State Of Decay 2 Modding)
  • Note that, because this is not created in-engine, this does not have automated localization. Because of this, this mod is English Only, until such time that I figure out how to add automatic localization (which, I'll admit, is not really a high priority for me at current)

Currently Known Bugs or Issues
Crash on Community Load /// Long Load Screens
Due to an issue that I currently cannot rectify, the game may require additional time to properly load your communities after launching the game. Attempting to load a session while this "load" is in progress may cause a Crash-To-Desktop. In order to avoid this, try not to load into a game before the Portraits (Polaroid Photos) of your survivors have properly loaded. This should take approximately the same amount of time as you would be forced to watch the load screen anyway, but should not carry the risk of a crash.
Alternatively, having the Hades Mod Manager installed (and active) via the Mod Manager alongside this mod and the Master File will - for some reason - allow the game to load properly, completely bypassing this issue. Note that this will occur even if no modules of Hades are installed.

Future Updates
  • Intended Update 1.1.0 === Adding "Base Game" Knowledge to the Heartland Community Skills (so that they can actually do something in the base game)
  • Intended Update 1.2.0 === Implementing additional Community Skill Specializations to work with a new mod.
  • Intended Update 1.3.0 === Possibly expanding the available skills available in Daybreak (and to Red Talon Operators)
  • Intended Update 1.4.0 === Expanding on changes to "Traits", with at least 20 new "Core" specializations for Base-Game Characters
  • Intended Update 1.5.0 === Including a rework or expansion to "Hero Skills" for game variety
