I've created this mod with the intention of making the game harder and to recreate what I think a zombie apocalypse would be like. The features included will change the game in several aspects. Some of the changes are just fixes, but others will improve your gaming experience. State of decay offers a lot of content and diverse ways of getting supplies, killing zombies, recruiting survivors, building a base, creating a community and more, but the truth is that there was no need to use all the game mechanics because weapons, supplies, survivors and everything in general, was too easy to get. I hope that my mod suits your personal taste allowing you to enjoy this awesome game in a different way.

There is a full Readme (read it carefully) with all the features in the DOCS tab. My mod gives each game mode (Story, Breakdown and Lifeline) unique features. 


Features summary:

STORY (ST), BREAKDOWN (BD) & LIFELINE (LL)

  • NPC Followers allowed in every single mission - (ST, BD & LL)
  • New items added to the game (consumables, melee and ranged weapons including a crossbow and bolts) - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Black Fever enabled - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Medics, Foremen, Chefs, Farmers and others will stay at home - (ST, BD & LL)
  • New non-hero characters with unique backstories, replacing boring and repetitive character models. Changes in non-hero characters portraits, stories and names to create a diverse Trumbull Valley - (ST & BD)
  • Choose one melee specialization and one ranged specialization. Choose one energy technique (Marathon, Rage or Combat endurance) and one tactical technique (Ninja or Focus aim) - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Labor system added, it will consume while building, creating items and other actions - (ST, BD & LL)
  • New events. Some will include bandits, hordes and more (community members can get hurt or killed by them, but they can also eliminate them feeling heroic or lucky) - (ST & BD)
  • New Command Center actions. Fight hostile survivors for resources, it's risky, but rewarding. Choose a leader for your community to increase morale (requires leadership trait) - (ST & BD)
  • Critical events added. People can commit suicide or murders inside the community and survivors with black fever can turn into zombies and attack - (ST & BD)
  • In-game consumption, fuel while driving, once you reach 0 fuel, morale will drop. Food, medicine, materials and ammo according to home base consumption, there will be an actual urgency to get supplies. Also, morale will drop, and it will be harder to keep the community in a good mood - (ST, BD & LL)
  • No special zombies (special zombies will still spawn in missions and zed hunts) - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Reduced resources (rucksacks) and loot (items in general). Now you will have to do trades, CLEO missions, help survivors for resources, and explore the entire map to get more supplies - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Slow zombies, but more dangerous, their bites are stronger, and they get in groups of 25 to form hordes. Facing a horde will be a matter of life and death - (ST, BD & LL)
  • Falling and explosions will do a lot of damage to your characters. Injuries and illness can kill your characters - (ST, BD & LL)
  • A lot more features. Read the text file in Docs tab

Known issues:

  • Due to big hordes size, there is a chance that some zeds may lose their animations becoming unable to shoot or hit, this is caused by a game limitation, it can only load a certain number of zombies at the same time (I think it's around 50 zeds). This will occur only if too many hordes are spawning at the same time and too close to each other. Kill some and it will be fine.
