Skywalker ReShade FX - True HDR v1.2!

    The best of both worlds!

I decided to not be lazy and give you all the best of both worlds. So now I recommend one of these 2 presets.
For your convenience v1.0 is also included, since it was a solid preset, but it's obsolete in my current agenda.

True HDR - The main preset with Tonemapped HDR bloom. Greater sense of depth/contrast, but costs more FPS.

Version 1.1 - Easier on the eyes, and better performance. Optimized for gameplay.

    -------------------------------------------------

PM me if you want to debate about why I claim this ReShade mimics the "True HDR" method.

I am no longer responding to this type of post. The people, or trolls, in denial just don't know anything about how HDR works. So far not a single person has shown any knowledge of the technical details, and I'm tired of wasting my time and having to explain this to each and every one of them. Moving forwards I will delete the comment and block the user.

Hey, I have a problem with this mod, I did exactly what you said, I've installed reshade.exe, I also changed the dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll and did your solution to troubleshooting, the game is launching normal, then I see screen of lucasfilm and Jedi Fallen Order, then I see loading screen of Jedi emblem, it's taking a while and after that there is a black screen and the game is not responding, Help

I've used other reshades and was unimpressed with them. This one is absolutely gorgeous! Sadly, it bring my GPU to its knees, my FPS is down to about 60% of normal. But it's so pretty... I guess it's worth it! 50-60fps, down from 90-120.

Never used real HDR before, I'd never know how close to the real thing this is, but it definitely makes Fallen order much more realistic looking, and less cartoony. Nice job!

      Hey,

you need to disable the Origin overlay - than it will work.
Check out the Youtube Video where you can disable it:

Hey Tiltosteron: [I hope you find this useful]
It's a RESHADE PRESET here, so we need the tiny program RESHADE to load it. You can display a FPS COUNTER (Pt.8 below). Watch a YOUTUBE tutorial about RESHADE, same for any game.

FIRST, Download MANUALLY Vanguard1776's Reshade PRESET "Skywalker ReShade FX - True HDR"
      SECOND [ IT'S NOT A VIRUS ] download PROGRAM "ReShade_Setup_4.5.4.exe" here: https://reshade.me/
[ Suggestion: place presets & Reshade program / create new folder on games DISK / Easier to find ]

1 - Click on Reshade.exe (NO installation), a windows opens, browse & select the launcher "starwarsjedifallenorder.exe" in the game folder. (Don't tick below "Enable Reshade in Vulkan globally)
2 - Next window "Which rendering API does GAME use ?"
      ALWAYS choose "Direct3D 10/11/12" (Meaning DX10,11,12.)
3 - Download the FULL list of effects already ticked (30 sec.)
4 - CLOSE RESHADE. You NEVER need to open it before playing.

Next how to install Vanguard1776 's preset:
Copy each files INSIDE the "Main files" folder - Don't copy folder itself - of "Skywalker ReShade FX - True HDR" to your game directory.
(e.g. ....Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order\SwGame\Binaries\Win64)
Leave the in-game brightness at default, and use Fullscreen mode.
Turn off Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain. (optional)

5 - Launch game, you'll see a message "Reshade version installed etc...".meaning RESHADE is working.
Press key "HOME" to display/hide RESHADE
6 - See TOP MENU: TAB "Home" shows "Default.preset".
Click on "+ " on the right, browse / load preset "Skywalker ReShade FX - True HDR"
      ********************DONE********************
      Try RELOAD if nothing changed.

7 - USEFUL SHORTCUTS tab "Settings" / My choices:
      Effect TOGGLE KEY / " SUPPR " (= preset ON / OFF)
      Effect RELOAD/ " R "
      Preset PREVIOUS / " LEFT arrow "
Preset NEXT / " RIGHT arrow)

8 - Tick FPS COUNTER, in TAB "Settings" / "User Interface"

Another day, another generic insult. I can't help but feel sad for you. Your personal insecurity is so great that you must project it here.
Maybe next time you should actually download my file to investigate which settings and shaders I'm using so we can have a technical debate.

      Nah, that'll never happen....

Looks really bad on you (as a bystander) responding to all these comments calling it not true HDR by calling people insecure and idiots.

I make an example out of them, because I have zero tolerance for that type of behavior. Especially when their only intent is to be disrespectful.

Did I make that clear enough for you? I hope so, because it appears that you've come here just to show your disrespect as well.

I just downloaded your preset and nowhere does it affect the in-game HDR or add its own HDR implementation. In-fact, it doesn't even use the "Fake HDR" shader that is included with Reshade.

Also, Reshade is only an injected post processing filter.

If you want to have technical discussion, then fine; please explain how your Reshade preset has anything to do with HDR.

      @aaronth07,

Your quote: "....it doesn't even use the "Fake HDR" shader that is included with Reshade".

Right there, you practically proved my point. I used a complex array of effects to mimic the "True HDR" method, not the Fake HDR shader (low quality & lazy method), and this is meant to be used on a SDR monitor (maybe I should've mentioned that the HDR texture is rendered internally and transformed to SDR before it's displayed on your screen). HDR shader code has existed for more than a decade (way before HDR monitors). It takes more than just one shader to create a good HDR effect, and there is a certain way that it can be done correctly (there are actually rules that define what HDR is). Even my implementation could use some work (the ReShade EyeAdaptation code is very inadequate and holds me back alot, I need GrayAdaptation to get the most out of the tonemapping). If you want more info, PM me. I don't want to give away all of my trade secrets in public, due to many copycats out there.

To summarize, this ReShade mimics the "True HDR" method by using a complex array of various effects (Tonemapped HDR Bloom, Adaptation, Gamma-space corrections, and my own methods) that work together in a particular way to produce these results, and there's still room for improvement. Notice how only some of my ReShades are labeled "True HDR". It's because they've met the technical requirements.

The in-game HDR that devs use doesn't work that well in actuality, but one of these days they'll make progress, and the ReShade or ENB methods won't be worth the time or trouble.

      --------------------------------------------

      To Everyone else,

This is the last time I will respond to this type of post. The people, or trolls, in denial just don't know anything about how HDR works. Honestly, everything looks the same. The only way i can tell any difference was made is if i look at the before and after screenshots back and forth, and then the only thing i notice is that everything is slightly darker. not worth while

Looks the same? Hahaha, sounds like you need to actually try the ReShade in your game. There is a considerable difference beyond what you've seen in some of my outdated before and after screenshots. I know, I need to post more current ones.... >_>

All in all, your comment appears to serve no other purpose than an attempt to discredit my efforts.

Either blatant trollbaiting, or You're aesthetical awareness is severely underdeveloped, or just shortsighted. Not to hate on people of the more 'simple' natured inclinations or their comparatively low standard to QoL pedigree, but demeaning the craft of other's efforts because of your own lack of comprehension is in particularly poor taste, and honestly quite petty to even take the time to do. It just portrays you as a narrow minded pleb with a gloomy disposition. In otherwords, You're unpleasant. Should work on that, for your own sake my guy. ;)
