What the Rebel Alliance lacked in resources, it made up for with grit and tenacity. Many of its soldiers were outlaws, militiamen, and freedom fighters - some even having served in the Imperial military. Dissident cells from across the galaxy converged on Yavin 4 to form the backbone of the Alliance, bringing with them their own training, equipment, and reasons for wanting to watch the Empire burn.
Though far from a professional army, the Alliance's ground troops proved more than a match for Imperial stormtroopers. Saw Gerrera's Partisans and Han Solo's Pathfinders were two famous SpecForce units, both of whom used hit-and-run tactics and even terror to strike against Imperial holdings.
