About this mod

Includes options for four weapon types (Disco Phaser, Disco Disruptor, Kelvin Phaser, Viridian Plasma)to make them use one of five different Star Wars weapon sounds (Droid Fighter, Firespray Attack Ship, TIE Fighter, Turbolaser, X-Wing).

Permissions and credits
On my previous mod a user requested a mod to make the Viridian Plasma weapons sound like turbolasers from Star Wars, and I thought this was a great idea. I ended up greatly expanding the scope of the mod though, so that it now includes files for four different STO weapon types with sounds from five different Star Wars weapons. The included STO weapon types are Disco Phaser, Disco Disruptor, Kelvin Phaser, and Viridian Plasma, each with options using weapon sounds from Droid Fighter, Firespray Attack Ship, TIE Fighter, Turbolaser, and X-Wing.

Note: All files replace the beam overload sound, but only the TIE fighter option has a unique BO sound because I wasn't able to find or create a suitable sound for the others.

To install:
1) unzip Release 1_0.zip
2) Within Release 1_0.zip you will find five folders, open the folder for the STO weapon type you would like to change.
3) Open the folder for the Star Wars sound you would like to use (the mp3s can be listened to in the folder "Release 1_0\aSample Sounds")
4) Here you will find a folder named localdata, copy it and paste it in "...Star Trek Online\Live\"
5) The end result should look something like this: "...Star Trek Online\Live\localdata\sound\win32\[Chosen STO Weapon].fsb"

You can install mods for all 4 STO weapon types if you wish, but each weapon type can only have one mod installed at a time.

This does not modify any actual game files because STO supports override functionality using the "localdata" folder, so this SHOULD be safe, however it IS a bit of a gray area so use at your own risk. As far as I know there have not been any official statements made about whether this type of thing is OK or not, but if I find one I will update this description immediately.

EDIT: I have now uploaded an alternate Turbolaser sound, install instructions are the same however this optional download only includes the alternate Turbolaser sound.
