About this mod
This mod improves food, increasing its healing abilities by approximately 5x that of vanilla Starfield and changes their healing to be incremental over time. More features to come. Optionally the player may increase the time that food sustains them. Please read the full description for more info.

My goal was to improve food, but still keep it balanced. This mod adjusts how food heals the player in two ways.
- Food now heals approximately 5 times the amount of HP as it did previously.
- Food heals over duration as opposed to immediately. Most of these times are below a minute, with only the highest tier foods going reaching a minute and 15 seconds.
Future Plans
Depending on how well received this mod is, I’d like to continue working on it. Here are some of the examples of things I'd like to eventually do.
- Create a means for the player to adjust their healing factor. Currently the only way to differentiate healing factor is through console commands. I’m working on finding a way to do this without scripting.
- Giving various foods unique effects.
- [DONE] Bring my changes to the drinks of Starfield.
- Possibly add new, high end recipes that can be crafted - Maybe award these recipes through questing.
Compatibility
I am not entirely sure how this mod will interact with other mods that alter food. If this mod is the only mod in your order that modifies food, you should be good. If you come across any weird behavior please feel free to message me here.
(Optional Feature - Fine Tune your Multiplier)
Currently requires Console Commands*
Step 1: Head to Jemison and read the “Better Starfield Foods” book. It can be found on a cart just to the left of the ramp leading away from the landing pad.
Step 2: Using the following console command, adjust your healing multiplier:
player.setav BSF_AV_NutritionMultiplier [#]
Remove the brackets and type a number you want your values multiplied by. NOTE: This multiplier is applied AFTER my 5x multiplier, so setting this to 2 would result in a multiplier equivalent to 10x vanilla healing.
For 3x vanilla: Set the multiplier to 0.6
For 5x vanilla: Set the multiplier to 1.0
For 7x vanilla: Set the multiplier to 1.4
For 10x vanilla: Set the multiplier to 2.0
*I am attempting to find a way to include these features WITHOUT the use of the console, I just haven’t quite figured it out.
(Optional Feature - Longer "Fed" effect from foods) No Console Commands required
In addition to adjusting the healing aspects of food, the mod now (version 1.2+) has the option to double the length of time that food keeps the player "fed".
- To do this you must read the book titled "Longer Duration". It can be found on a cart just to the left of the ramp leading away from the landing pad in New Atlantis. Note: There are two books. One that allows for customization of the healing factor through console commands (see above) and one that doubles the length of sustenance for food.
Bug Reporting and Feature Requests

Known Bugs:
- All items will say "Fed for 30m" or "Hydrated for 30m" regardless of whether the player has used the Longer Duration Book.
- [RESOVED] Some users playing with sustenance turned on report foods not staving off hunger.
