V.A.S.T. - Virtually Analog Starfield Tapes
A collection of 50+ songs - over three hours - recorded specifically for Starfield. The songs are intended to give a more cinematic, sci-fi, ambient feel to the game's music.

V.A.S.T. is a project that began in September 2022 as an augmentation to the soundtrack of Starfield.
From September 2022 to June 2023, roughly 120 songs were improvised and recorded. Most were recorded in 1-3 hours and several months later, editing began. From the recorded tracks, a little more than 50 were kept, mixed, and mastered for the game.

Update 9.29.23 - The 1.0 version of the working soundtrack is now live. Installation is easy, simply unzip the files into the following location: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data
Update 10.2.23 - Uploaded a 'mild' version of the replacement sounds. This is a more limited substitution of the game's OST. The uploaded tracks are at appropriate levels and very appopriate to their context. Hopefully in 2-3 weeks there will be an upload with combat music and a further replacement of the game's core tracks. The version 1.1 upload does replace more tracks, but it has some issues with levels to be aware of.
Now, on to a couple of quirks:
To uninstall the soundtrack replacement: Go to C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Sound\Soundbanks and delete the .WEM files. That's all that's needed.

- The song that plays over the main menu has a sort of shimmer in the background. The way Starfield handles that specific sound file is different from others. This sound only applies to the background music in the main menu. If you don't like it, simply remove the .WEM file with the ID 456350239 from the destination C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Sound\Soundbanks
