πLife Icon For Planets on Starmap
I feel like this should have been a toggle in the menu, to be honest. It adds a cute green leaf next to planets with life.
Not sure if this has been posted anywhere; I wasn't aware of this config tweak. Hopefully I'll find more.
The bundled StarfieldCustom.ini includes many settings I'm messing around with if anyone else wants to experiment, as well as the generic settings I post for the Starborn Royalty Mod List.
I am not 100% confident in these abilities. I am testing them myself and I encourage others to do so and share the results. =)
Other Potentially Useful Tweaks:
0 feels better, no delay. I actually did 0.0001 I think to be safe.
Reduce to hold less long
More decals and Debris: This works, I'm pretty sure. I'm seeing so much blood. Not really my thing, so something to tweak. Not sure if multi-threading does anything for performance or why it was off by default.
Probably lets you change default camera
Might boost performance. Most likely with other negatives, hence being disabled by default.
Defaults to 0 or -1, can't remember. Might add more shadows when planets are in the sky.
Defaults to 0. Maybe it makes things foggier?
I think enables a nicer looking fog.
Various wind tweaks that seem to increase wind, more moving foliage, maybe audio?
Seems to allow more smoke and rain particles.
Seems to add more accurate shadows to NPCs, but these will be ugly if you aren't running high-quality shadows.
Might make hair physics a little prettier. I can't tell if that was caused by this or the wind tweak. Assume anything that was disabled by default comes with some performance cost.
Tweak view distance.
A slightly reduced version of the proc gen tweak with less clipping and slightly better performance.
Set to 1 to cheat. Only works for weapons/armor bench.
Doesn't seem to change anything for me, but theoretically could improve performance at the cost of slower loading.
Might increase quality of some textures up close with an effect like parallax (bumpiness). I'm not sure it's doing anything. Those are the default values, I've been trying doubled.
Doubled Tesselation.
This adds SOME collision to vegetation that was lacking it, but you can still sprint through. Tweaked values would probably make them fully collide. Note that I'm not referring to animations, just whether you can fully walk through certain vegetation or not.
The lumberyard settings in the .ini do seem to affect animation for big trees in wind, but not all.
If anyone tweaks this and gets a good value, please share it! I want this one for my own personal fun and joy :)
Seems to work, but looks ugly. Default of 0 is best.
When I feel confident in my understanding of these values, I'll update High/Medium/Low config options for my mod list.
This is all found because I had originally tended to release a config with my Weathers Mod, but decided not to delay releasing when it was enjoyable enough even without config tweaks.
