About this mod

This mod overlays our Milky Way's glow and interstellar clouds to the Vanilla skybox. Works without any edit to the StarfieldCustom.ini.

Changelogs
This mod introduces a realistic Milky Way skybox by overlaying authentic images from ESA Gaia's Early Data Release 3 to the Vanilla Milky Way—no need for StarfieldCustom.ini edits. (Poor ESA seems to have been forgotten by the Settled System). The mod also reduces the blue hue and makes the night sky blacker. HDR has not been tested.

Technical notes:
Without edits to the StarfieldCustom.ini, if there are any stars in the modded skybox, they'll look washed out. You'll also get distracting star trails if your motion blur is on. The pinpoint stars in the game are separate from the Milky Way Skybox.

This mod overcomes the issues by removing almost all the stars from the source images, so it should work out of the box without tinkering with the ini file. You'll still get the vanilla pinpoint stars in the night sky. I haven't tried it on a HDR screen.

INSTALLATION:
Download the main file via a mod manager (recommended). Alternatively, manually extract the files to your Data folder (in Documents\My Games\Starfield), or if you have Baka Disable My Games Folder, to your game Data folder (../Steam/steamapps/common/Starfield/Data).

Ensure that you have created the StarfieldCustom.ini file in "Documents\My Games\Starfield\" and input the following:
