Update Version 1.01 at 1055 UTC, 2/12/2023:
Optional files for a clear visor/face shield are now available.

This mod introduces a visor-up helmet model that utilises the hat slot, allowing the automatic transition of the visor positions when moving from breathable to non-breathable air or vice versa. Available for male and female player characters. Not suitable for companions. An optional clear visor is available.

HOW TO SET UP:
- Make sure you download the correct file for the gender of your player character.
- Download the optional file for a clear visor if needed. Overwrite the main file (load the optional file AFTER the main file).
- For female characters, this mod replaces Genghis Khan's Hat.
Get the hat using the console command: player.additem 001D8426 1
- For male characters, this mod replaces Amanirenas' Hat. Get the hat using the console command: player.additem 001E426E 1
- Wear the hat.
- Wear your Vanguard Spacesuit. Select "Show spacesuit in settlements".
- Wear your UC Vanguard Helmet. Select "Hide helmet in breathable areas".
- Done!

INSTALLATION:

Download via a mod manager (recommended). Alternatively, manually extract the files to your Data folder (in Documents\My Games\Starfield), or if you have Baka Disable My Games Folder, to your game Data folder (../Steam/steamapps/common/Starfield/Data).

Ensure that you have created the StarfieldCustom.ini file in "Documents\My Games\Starfield\" and input the following:

TECHNICAL NOTE:
This mod utilises the game clothing mechanic, which removes the hat when a character puts on the helmet. The visor-up version of the helmet is technically a hat. Only hats that completely hide the hair are suitable; otherwise, the hair can clip through the helmet.

It's also theoretically possible to make the visor position toggleable, but it'll use up two hotkey slots. It requires making a visor-up spacesuit helmet, preferably a standalone helmet, and using the hotkey to swap between the models.

This mod currently does not work on companions; they'll just wear the visor-up helmet with their regular clothing. Theoretically, it could work if the companion also wears an apparel version of the spacesuit, which I don't have the time to make and test.
