About this mod

NG+ is very much like traveling back in time in the same universe. So this mod swaps faces between all the NPCs it can in order to make your next run feel new again.

0. Presentation

This mod's purpose is to change the face of every more or less important NPC with the face of another when you enter a new universe. If you've grown tired of seeing the same Sarah Morgan and Andreja and Barrett and Sam and everyone, this mod is the solution for you.

1. Installation

Copy the files in your main game directory (the one with Starfield.exe in it).
Install Starfield Hotkeys if you haven't. Great mod. Mandatory for fixing NPC skin tones after swapping their faces.

2. Configuration

Open your Hotkeys.ini. It's in a folder called Hotkeys, in your main game folder. Two things must be done to it:
a. Under [Macros], add the following line:

[Macros]
fixskin=bat FS_42_skinfix

b. Under [Hotkeys], add the following line:

[Hotkeys]
F=fixskin

"F" is for the F key on your keyboard. It's the scanner key for me, so if you've mapped another key to your scanner, use that one instead of F. Don't try using another key, as most of them won't work properly (movement keys will make you spam and crash, and some other keys which use long-press won't work anymore. F is fine). Use your scanner key. Scanner key is good for you and your health.
If you're confident that you won't need to use the skin color fix that much (you'd be right) and you want to consciously press a key whenever you find that the skin tones are probably off, you may want to put "F2" for instance.

When you're in the game, DON'T SPAM the key you've assigned for fixing the skin tones. It takes 10 to 20 seconds for the game to cycle through the fix so wait a little. Be patient or you may crash your game. Using the scanner key or jump key normally won't cause problems (even using boost pack repeatedly as long as you don't do it like an idiot). Try to use the macro once every time you enter a new cell, as doing that will fix everyone before you see them.
WAIT until you're just about to use the faceswap command before adding that macro. If you don't, your game will fix skin tones while there are no skin tones to be fixed since you haven't changed the faces yet.

3. Execution

After being reborn in your Guardian ship, open the console and type:

bat faceswap_42

Press Enter and exit the console. WAIT 20 SECONDS to make sure everything is set (the message at the top right screen is lying: when it appears it means all the commands are in the pipe, but they've still got to reach the other end of the... pipe).
Go wherever you want but once you're landed, better find a seat and wait for a few hours. If you don't, some NPCs might not be in their usual place the first time you encounter them.

WARNING: if you don't like the results, there is no way back except loading a save prior to running the script or leaving this universe. Uninstalling the mod won't revert the changes either (although it will prevent you from fixing the skin tones).

4. FUN
You can now visit the galaxy and marvel at the new faces everyone has !
... Well, almost everyone. There are about 400 NPCs with a unique name in Starfield, and the script only works with ~300 of them for now.
You should expect a few disappointments after running it, such as your favorite NPC's face not changing, two NPCs you may or may not know well having the same face (very few of those though), and other minor stuff. Nothing game-breaking though, as it only copies appearances from one character to another. If your game crashes it's probably not my mod, but if it is due to my mod, you need more RAM (I have 16gb).
I made some thought-out choices for who should become who... Mostly follower and quest NPCs. The others are categorized and randomized to a fixed list.
The script is not a random process (and I don't think it should be), and if you try to go back to your save and run the script again, the changes will be the same.
If you're not happy with the results (or if you're happy and you want to do it again in the next NG+), you may run the script from another universe or try the same script an additional time (wait for the end message to display though). If you do it twice or more in the same universe, the skin tones will become weird though.
WARNING: make a backup save. If you don't like how things turned out, removing the mod won't revert the changes and you have only two solutions: load a save prior to the execution of the script, or enter Unity again.
Please report any errors in the Bugs page, such as NPCs that are in the list and did not swap faces. It's probably an easy fix but I can't preemptively fiw everyone as it would require too much work.
I cannot add more NPCs to the script because I've put every possible NPC in it. If one NPC you wanted to see change didn't change, it's because the game does not allow me to make them change. Some of the notable characters that seem impervious to my attempts are quest-related NPCs such as Gabriel Vera, Mathis Castillo, Ron Hope...
Enjoy your new universe!

Special Advice
You really need to try Height Randomizer. Awesome mod for immersion.
