It works great with the performanse settings, but i think because of the shadows, i gets impossible to play in some areas because the game simple gets all blacked out. Could it be some way to fix this?
ironically I had the opposite problem with ultra performance where everything looked raptured at one point; I then moved to normal performance and that instantly fixed it.
I dont mod many games so i dont know how some stuff works. I would like to know when starfield gets an update like it did the other day, does this mod have to be reapplied?
Sorry if im out of left field here its been a while since I modded a beth game but it seems to me that the textures folder the starfield directory content and the documents content may be backwards?
the documents folder contains a ton of .dss files where is the Starfield directory doler has 2 .ba2 files
Seems to me like the .dss files are meant to be in the starfield directory so they can overwrite a bunch of old textures? but again its been years since I'm modded a beth game (pre FO4) so I may be confussed.
Edit - I am also very confused with in your directions you state "it is required to install the landscape textures for the LOD textures to work"
I am not seeing these landscape textures reference elsewhere...
It just means SDTextures256 & SDTexturesLOD must be installed together & also the locations arent wrong. Ba2 are archived files thus belong in the directory & the DSS files are loose so belong in the documents
Thank you very much for your mod that give me a very nice FPS boost !!
But unfortunatly i expérience some light sources flickering with this mod. Especialy the one with Bloom and/or Lens flare ... I'm on steamdeck and i'm only using this mod, and i uninstalled the shaders several Times.... any Idea about a parametre a Can reset to default to avoid that flickering effect ? ( because with vanilla presets everything is going well, exept of course the lack of fps )
Thanks in advance pour everything and keep UP the good work ;).
1. Try each preset. Low, Medium, High, Ultra, see if one of them stops light flickering. If it does then turn each setting down till you figure out which one it is then report back
2. Delete StarfieldCustom.ini and see if light flickering disappears. If it does or doesn't report back
This will help me troubleshoot the issue so I can patch it. Thank you
Can I use this on my CPU Limited desktop? I get around a consistent 15fps unless indoors, so trying to get past that bottleneck but I have an SSD so I don't know if I need the optimized textures. I kinda don't want to sacrifice texture resolution too much.
But do I need the texture optimizations for the CPU improvements?
Edit: Yeah I don't get any kind of improvements, I likely have a bad CPU or something. I guess I'm just gonna have to wait until I have enough cash to improve my hardware.
I could try the textures, but I don't know if they'd do much, I have tried like 2 other optimized texture mods and they haven't impacted my FPS at all.
My PC was prebuilt with a 2070 Super and a Ryzen 7 2700X for a CPU... I don't think I should get the FPS I do with my spec, because I have researched the the CPU and I have seen reddit posts with others having better FPS paired with this GPU/CPU, so I suspect the computer assembler, NZXT, maybe bent a pin or two during installation which ended up affecting my performance. Idk... its been a bit frustrating, Starfield has been the first game to be a real challenge to run at at least 30fps. Its definitely CPU bottlenecked.
Version 1.9.17 of the textures no longer contains the 512 variant that I use, only 256. Is that for some specific reason? Did anything else change between 1.9.16 and 1.9.17, should I at least update the LOD textures? Slightly confused now.
Thanks for this. Been playing Starfield on PC at 4k medium, and my Steam Deck at medium/low for a few weeks now. Wondering if anyone has updated their Steam Deck display settings since this came out? Any new optimal settings for the Steam Deck now?
