Curious if this "bug" always happens or if it is random? I'm asking because after approx. 400hrs or so on a single character, I haven't ran across this one yet. Is there a specific event or instance where I would run into this bug? Genuinely curious question, just wondering if I need to "future proof" my save file?
I did, read it 3 times, and from what it said, I was guessing it was a "random" bug, but I wanted to make sure I was correct in guessing it was random and did not happen/occur all the time. Just wanted to make absolutely sure and not assume. Thanks.
it is not random. There is a clear 100% reproduction outlined in the mod description from people's reports, the SFCP report, and the demonstration video.
I was already not really caring for or liking Sam, I just dont like his personality. This quest was the final straw, I kicked him off the ship after he threw a temper tantrum for no reason and apparently called the cops on me, now this makes sense lol
The only ones I despise are Barrett (cause his Worlds Apart quest never triggers for me in my first playthrough, apparently, so he gets to wear the Neon Dancer Outfit as soon as I find it, and if he's superlucky, the headwear as well), and in my new playthrough I started after changing from MS store to Steam to bask in the glory of mods (unwilling to put up with the shitshow of not fixing their own game Bethesda seems to be determined to follow through with until the end) I allowed Sam to be executed by the Hunter, nuf said (well, the other two companions have beeeeeewbs, ok maybe Barrett does too, who knows...). Well, you get the idea ;)
Does this require SFSE? Cause I just had my companion abandon me for killing a bunch of ecliptic on an ecliptic ship I was gonna steal after it landed. She was fine at first, then I got to the cockpit and she left me.
Does this apply to smuggler events? I explore planets, a ship lands, the crew assumes I'm their contact and they hand me a random weapon, telling me to 'deliver it'. If I don't deliver it, after a while I get intercept by Ecliptic forces.
But if I try to blow away the smuggler crew to begin with, my companion hates me. ????
That's not a bug. You're the thief in that scenario and they aren't attacking you, they're just hailing you. You being the aggressor is a choice. Just go through the dialogue and the crew won't care that you defended your ship.
Please don't take this the wrong way - I appreciate the work you put into this, and I get that it seems obvious to you - but "Whenever. Doesn't matter." isn't a helpful description to someone who may be new to modding. I noticed it on your thruster fix mod (which I happily use) as well. I would just encourage you to consider that many people who come across your mods don't have a fraction of the literacy that you do with this stuff.
writing it that way sounds like you don't care what happens. Something like "Uninstalling the mod can be performed at any time, with no ill effects." that make it clearer.
Most likely it means uninstalling the script means it will no longer have an effect on future ship encounters. But I agree, author is being willfully obtuse here.
The Skyrim modding community was more focused on melodrama - something I'm hoping gets left behind for this game. I did a fair amount of modding Skyrim, but I was still thrown by the description at first. Then consider that a decent portion of your audience could be kids now that there is some degree of modding available on consoles and modding has caught on/reached a wider audience.
Modding incorrectly has the potential to break the game, and anyone who uses mods should know that going in. Despite that, having a poor description is more likely to get you bug reports that result from somebody who screwed something up on their end and expects you to fix it for them than it is to change people's behavior. It really isn't much to ask for a single, complete, well-framed sentence. Being acidic and obtuse just makes you look childish. Just write something that sounds an intelligent adult and move on. This is not the hill to die on.
The description was suppose to be short. Adding more flowery language or additional hand-holding is not guaranteed to make it easier to read or understand: people are more likely to give up reading entirely. It is why the entire description is in point form.
It seems to me like aside from the first few commenters, the rest of this thread serves the purpose of creating additional drama over something small from parties who are otherwise uninvolved and unaffected: those who understood perfectly and those who didn't download the mod.
