"Why is bat file?" -Drix, Crimson Fleet Raider
I like automation, the path of least resistance.
Edit file, save it as it should look, run scripts, and sit back and watch the universe burn.
If you want to edit the "create_dds.bat" file to work, you need two files:
Microsoft DirectXTex: Microsoft DirectXTex
And
ImageMagick: ImageMagick
I personally put them into a Tools folder and reference them inside my batch files.
zip seems to built into windows nowdays so no need for that.

Having Issues:
Have you fixed the custom ini file?
Base StarfieldCustom.ini to Enable Loose File Mods
If you have trouble with it not working it could be that the install folder is not working then Baka Disable My Games Folder could perhaps fix it.
