About this mod

This is an .esm file made with xEdit. Put it in your load list and give Rosie Tannehill dialog choices to heal/cure you and sell you medicines...just like she always should have.

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
This mod turns Dr. Rosie Tannehill into a functional Starfield doctor....now in .esm format!

She will not run around healing you...that's not possible just yet.  What this will do is add dialog options that doctors have in the game.  She will be able to heal you and remove your status ailments out in the field, on your ship, or at your outpost, for standard fees, of course.  She will also function as a mobile medical vendor with only a modest amount of credits to work with.

Rosie goes from being a pretty useless companion to being one of the most practical after letting her....well....BE a doctor.

v2.0+ is a proper mod in .esm format that automatically modifies Rosie to be a proper Starfield doctor, it gives her Leadership 2, an actual Lab Coat as her starting equipment, and makes her look a bit younger.  Note that this installs like any other .esm.  Use MO2 with the Plugins.txt Enabler or install manually with the sTestFile method.  Nothing else needs to be done...no need to run the rosie-fix on her if you use this .esm version from the start of a new game. (if adding this mod to an existing game, see special instructions below)

v2.0a - ESM that adds only the heal/vendor dialog to Rosie and no other modifications.  Also available in the "Files" section for download.  (by request)

Before you get started, make sure you have these lines in your StarfieldCustom.ini file:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Instructions:

  • (Easiest) Install with Mod Organizer 2 + Plugins.txt Enabler - Pretty straight forward but just make sure the "Data" folder is properly recognized/designated.
  • Manual Install - Just copy the mod's Data folder into your Starfield directory (where the .exe is located).  Enable it to load using the sTestFile method.
  • Vortex - I don't use Vortex, but I'm told you can just drag and drop the mod archive into the bottom of the "Mods" tab where it says "Drop Files" like you would with other mods.  That info was provided by MrZHDarkstar in the forum section.
  • Then, BUY ME A COFFEE because you are one of those rare and very cool mod-users.  You think it's just the right thing to do to tip the mod authors that do the work making and maintaining mods you use everyday for free...a standard waitress-level tip is always appreciated..no need to go overboard.
  • Then check out my other mods at the bottom of this page...cuz my mods are awesomesauce!   You love it...you know ya do...go ahead...no one will see...go getcha some...

NEW GAMES  shouldn't have the issues below.

If you already have run the rosie-fix from the previous versions you do NOT need to revert her back to Vanilla.  Doing so would cause her faction settings to be removed from her refID save game data...which will overwrite some of the .esm modifications.

If you already reverted her back to vanilla with the rosie-vanilla file
or she has already spawned in an existing game, you have to add 3 factions to her to get the doctor dialogs... like so:

    • Open the console and target Rosie (make sure she's selected before proceeding to step 2)
    • Enter this command:
      bat rosie-fix
    • Close the console and Rosie should now have her heal/vendor dialog. ("I need help, doc")

If you are adding this mod to an existing game, understand that any data saved in the save game file will overwrite data in any .esm file.  So...if Rosie has spawned already in your game, then her factions and clothing data is included in the save game data.  She won't get her lab coat...or her doctor dialog.  Use the above instructions to get her doctor dialogs.

You could use the 'recycleactor' console command to get her lab coat, but it's up to you to understand what that command does and how to use it.  This is a tip, not an instruction.  I'm not going to tech support info you can look up...if you choose to use that (or any other) console command, you do so at your own risk.  It is up to you, the player, to understand what you are doing to your game when you enter console commands.
Special thanks to LtColRemi for great feedback regarding the use of the .esm with an existing game.  Great feedback always helps us to figure out bugs or unique scenarios.

OLDER VERSION INFO - For those that still have the bat versions

v1.2 of this "mod" gives the Starship Engineering III  crew skill to Rosie so she can be useful when assigned your ship as well.  Why not have her "heal" your ship too? (repair speed).  Maybe she pumps your crew full of stims making them work faster?...who knows...

v1.3 adds both Starship Engineering III and Leadership II crew skills so she's  essentially becomes a free crew member who doesn't count toward your total allotment.

v1.3a adds only the Leadership II skill.

I know not everyone will want her to have these skills so I've kept the versions separate.
FOR NON-ESM VERSIONS ONLY

Instructions:

1.  Copy the Data folder to your Starfield installation folder.
2. In game, open the console with the (~) key with your target dot on Rosie (to make things easier).
- Make sure you have her front and center when you open the console otherwise the batch file won't work on her....duh.
3.  Once she is aimed at, type the below command and include the quotes.  They matter...
bat "Data\rosie-fix"
4.  Close the console (ESC out of it) and talk to Dr. Rosie.  She should
now have the dialog options that Starfield doctors have.

You only need to run this batch file on her once per game.  Her doctor status should persist through saves.

To revert Rosie back to her vanilla state:
Open the console and select Rosie.  Then run the following command and
restart your game afterward for the change to take effect.
bat "Data\rosie-vanilla"

Run bat "Data\rosie-vanilla-v1" if you are reverting her back from version 1.0 of this mod.

*** TO UPDATE ROSIE (Does NOT apply to v2.0+) ***
You need to revert her back to her vanilla state first before running the
rosie-fix command on her again.  If you don't revert her  back first,
then her crew skills won't be right.  No idea what that might do to your
game, so please do this step...

Special thanks to xtcrefugee and JohnShaft for great input!
