Working on hair textures is always the most troublesome because it is related to pixels such as photo retouching skin pores.

From the start of opening this hair texture I knew it would be an annoying job but unfortunately we need it. I've been working on this for almost 1.5 week and finally finished it today.

I restored each hair texture and the 3D depth of the diffuse so that our hair is crisper and feels more separate in each strand. You can see an example here.

As you can see, now each strand is clear and not covered in Noise Grain and does not feel Flat. After improving the basic quality of the textures, then I provide the 2K version which is clean and crisp. Our hair now has more Depth.

So what is the effect of giving more detail to the hairline ? Starfield uses an opacity map to provide an area that is visible to our eyes. If your hairline is blurry and unclear in this area, your hair will look like a flat poly with wide areas. With a clear hairline, it will give the impression of clearer hair stands in every area visible to the eye.

Of course you can't compare the effect to a wall. Because the wall is bigger and easier to see. This hair trick is like the Grass mod. With a clearer pattern, the grass also looks more pleasing than just a blurry grass pattern. Without a pattern, your grass is just a flat green poly, right ?

Small details but for those who are critical about details, quite enjoyable. Considering the size is only vanilla or 2x vanilla (optional), a little perfection in the game doesn't seem to be a problem.

I can't rescale textures like this to large sizes and expect everything to be super automatically because I will only get noisy textures with a larger size. I must fix the basics first and then I process the desired resolution.

The 2K version is certainly superior for close screenshots. But I SUGGEST just 1K because I have made the 1K a little more detailed to compensate smaller size. From a normal distance, the 1k detail feels like 2k. I personally use the 1K version for gameplay.

If you intend to use 2K, set Crowd to low. Remember, this is not Skyrim where there are only a few people in Rorikstead. The crowd number here is large and it is not wise to use 2K hair for everyone.
