About this mod
Keybinds for those that wish to create cinematic looking videos in Starfield.
- Permissions and credits
Motion will not be stopped like in Photo Mode, movement will persist, thus allowing you to record cool lookin' videos in-game (check videos for examples).
Also, in the example footage I recorded, I was using a controller to have the smoothest panning, because I don't know if there is an option for mouse smoothing in the game. If there is, please let me know. Otherwise, to ensure you get buttery smooth panning, have a controller handy, since mouse panning tends to be abrupt.
Disclaimer(s):
Since these files involve the usage of console commands, I'm pretty sure it might prevent achievements from being earned, so make sure to backup a pre-console usage save, or have an achievement enabler mod. Also, there is a good chance it could mess up your save, so take that into consideration (more details below).
Bugs/Issues (these are keybinds for console commands, so these bugs/issues are already in the game, not caused by the .ini):
- Loading autosaves/quicksaves/normal saves that were made while still in freecam will lock you in freecam for the rest of that save (Can be fixed by making sure freecam is toggled off, then fast traveling to your ship, or if you’re in a building, fast travel anywhere, it’ll reset the camera position)
- Toggling FreeCam in first person makes your character's head, torso, & legs invisible (that's just how it is, make sure to be in third person when toggling freecam, even when piloting a ship).
- Toggling FreeCam inside a ship when in space messes with the lighting (that's just how it is, no clue on how or if there's a way to fix it, switching to freecam probably changes the way lighting renders inside ships while in space).
- Toggling Menu then pausing the game leads to black screen (That's normal, since every menu screen is toggled off, including the HUD, just exit that menu then press the freecam/menu toggle again to bring everything back)
- Maybe more, idk, I don't go too crazy with the freecam.
Installation (manual install recommended):
1. Extract StarfieldConsole.ini to your C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Starfield
2. In that same directory, open (or create, if you do not already have one) StarfieldCustom.ini, add the following lines:
bUseConsoleHotkeys=1
3. Save and close your StarfieldCustom.ini. Installation finished. If done correctly, your first four function keys now serve as a rudimentary cinematic mode.
Keybinds:
The following are the keybinds I've set:
F1 - Toggle HUD and FreeCam
F2 - FreeCam Speed of 0.05 (Slowest, recommended for slow, cinematic like camera movement)
F3 - FreeCam Speed of 1 (Default, simply for moving camera to a desired position quickly)
F4 - FreeCam Speed of 10 (Fastest, extremely fast, for use in huge, open environments)
(Keybinds can be changed in the StarfieldConsole.ini file, scroll down for instructions on how to do that)
Changing Keybinds:
1. Open StarfieldConsole.ini and change any of the function keys (F1, F2, F3, F4) in the file to be a specific button/key combination.
The following is an example with the commands bound to Z, Ctrl-Z, X, and Ctrl-X:
[Hotkeys]
Z=tm;tfc
Ctrl-Z=sucsm 0.05
X=sucsm 1
Ctrl-X=sucsm 10
You can also change the different camera speeds too, if you want, in case mine are too fast or too slow for your liking.
Just change the number in front of each 'sucsm' command line to a different value.
