Mod is out of beta and released on a new mod page: Quantum Echoes - Constellation

IMPORTANT: I consider this a WIP BETA. I haven't tested it much other than using console commands to go through different NG+ and starting a new game and I still need to finish some appearances. If you use it and it causes your computer to blow up, don't blame me.

NOTE ABOUT APPEARANCES: First, I just modified hair, beards, jewelry and scarring. My goal is to keep NPCs recognizable but different. Second, I haven't really spent much time on them. I want to get the mod working well first, then I will go back and spend more time on the appearances. Finally, appearances are subjective so if you don't care for what I've done, just move on (honestly, Sarah with a messy hair cut or Sam without a beard takes some getting used to...). Or, open the plugin in CK and modify the NPCs to your heart's content to make it your own.

FEATURES ADDED IN v0.2:

Settings > Gameplay Options has 3 settings available.
  • Disable Variant NPCs - Constellation: This will not take effect until your next NG+. This does not make the mod safe to remove.
  • Change Andreja's Archetype: Allows you to select Vanilla, Confident or Friendly Archetypes. Choosing anything other than Vanilla will get rid of her manly walk. Can be changed at any time and is applied instantly.
  • Remove Sam's Hat: Self explanatory I think but you can remove it or put it back on. Can be done at any time and is applied instantly.

Manually Change Appearances:
Again, this is a WIP so for now you just have the 4 companions and Cora to choose from. Use the console command: cgf "Aurie:VarNPCs:VariantNPCsUtil.ShowMenu" changed to CGF "Aurie:VarNPCs:SystemUtil.ShowConstellation" in v0.3 and you will get a menu. Choose the NPC, then the appearance. Appearances are just numbered will have a number and info on hairstyle and/or beard changes made in v0.3. I added this mainly for testing but thought it was a nice feature if you get to a universe in which the randomly chosen appearance for someone is not to your liking and you can't stand to look at them....

THE DETAILS:
  • What It Does: Each member of Constellation has a set of 5-10 different appearances (this is a WIP. Noel and Walter have no variants, Matteo only has one not including his original) that will be selected at random when starting a new game or NG+. Cora is included but only has 4 variants as about the only thing you can do with kids is change hairstyle and there are not many kid's hairstyles in-game.
  • Vanilla Companion Appearances: You won't see them. This is based on my Enhanced Companions mod, so those tweaks are used as the base for the variant appearances for the Constellation Companions. If you are using Enhanced Companions, REMOVE IT. The facegen textures and morphs from Enhanced Companions will cause the variant appearances to look off. If you still want Sam's hat removed and/or Andreja's manly walk removed, I've added optional plugins that do that settings to Gameplay Options to do that in v0.2.
  • New Game: This mod will modify the appearance in the first universe as well. If you don't want that to happen, don't install it until you are in the Unity.
  • Mid-Save/Mid-Universe Installation: If you install this mid-save, it WILL modify appearances. I tried to figure out some way to determine if you've already met the members of Constellation so appearances wouldn't change, but with all the different variant universes, plus the first universe with different quests than NG+, I just couldn't think of any simple check to determine this. If I think of something, I'll update the mod.
  • Unity: The mod saves the appearance selected for the current universe and copies it to the Unity versions of Constellation members so they will look the same.
  • Temple Vlad: Sorry, but he stays vanilla
  • Compatibility: Mods that alter the appearance will not work as the appearance will be changed by this mod.
  • Other Factions: I've designed this in a way to make it simple to do this with other factions as well. Which I may (or may not) work on eventually. I'm not the best at coming up with a bunch of different variants for appearances which is what makes a mod like this not so fun for me. The scripting and getting it to work is fun, but creating all those variants is not, so we'll see. Which means if anyone out there can help with creating the different appearances I wouldn't say no as long as they keep my goal in mind (appearances should not be radically different and NPCs should still be recognizable).
