About this mod

Allows you to use an NPC animation type instead of the player type with furniture items and animation markers.

Changelogs
I've added an optional plugin with craftable outpost/ship furniture supporting various animations. For more details see below and the pictures in images. Version 1.1 of the main plugin checks to make sure the player isn't sitting when they try to disable the forced eating/drinking option, as this could have left added keywords on the furniture being used at the time.

A way of toggling the forced eat/drink setting from your favorites was requested, so I've added an optional plugin with an item to do that, you can make it at an industrial workbench.

DESCRIPTION
This mod adds an "As NPC" option to furniture, and to animation markers if you have the Usable Animation Markers (UAM) mod. This allows the player to use an NPC animation style instead of the usual player ones. If you've seen NPCs drink from a bottle, eat a sandwich or a steak, write on a tablet etc. then you've already seen some examples of them. The animation that gets triggered will depend on the particular piece of furniture used, with many supporting several different animations.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM UAM?
The two mods are complementary, but neither requires the other. UAM allows invisible markers to be used, but the player character is still limited to a subset of all the game's available human animations. This mod on the other hand doesn't affect the visibility of markers, but adds an option to most furniture to use the NPC animation type instead.

SETTINGS
Along with the "As NPC" option you'll see on furniture, when this mod is installed you'll also have a misc item added to your inventory, "Animation Activate Settings". You can use this to enable and disable the "As NPC" option, so it only needs to be visible when you want it. When enabled, you can also use it to force enable the eat/drink animation for standard chairs and high stools; some of the eating (sandwich or steak) and drinking (foam cup or bottle) animations assume a table is in front of the player so they may look odd if one isn't there. Force enabling these will prevent the player from using other animations with chairs and stools, so it would be a good idea to only use this option when needed, and disable it again after.
Spoiler:
Show
An optional plugin is available to have this setting toggled with an aid item "Toggle Force Eat/Drink", which will be in misc and which you can add to your favorites. As with my Summon Rover mod this adds two of the aid item to your inventory to avoid the "new item" prompt each time it is used. It can be made at an industrial workbench.

WHERE CAN I EAT/DRINK WITH MY FOLLOWER?
This will take some experimentation as you'll need to find at least one chair that supports eating/drinking for them to use. Command NPCs will also be helpful in getting them to use it. Most of the bar stools in the Viewport in New Atlantis support drinking, as do some in The Rock in Akila City. I know a number of the chairs in the New Atlantis Terrabrew support eating (see images for examples). Oddly just a single chair in the bar area at the Lodge supports eating, but you can use the force option to have your own character use another (see the demo video).

NEW OPTIONAL CRAFTING ADDON
I've added an optional plugin containing outpost/ship furniture, which includes most of the more interesting non-random animations. This includes the mess hall table, 16 other chairs with eating/drinking enabled, 5 bar stools with the drinking from a bottle animation, 3 chairs with the writing on a tablet animation, one reading from a book, 10 with the check console/display animation, one with "sitting confidently" enabled, and finally 3 with the "executive lean" animation. These are all in two lists under furniture. See images for examples. With the exception of the bar stools these are all vanilla furniture items and so may also be included in other outpost furniture mods. The bar stools I had to duplicate due to the way Bethesda added the drink from bottle animation. The animation each furniture item supports is indicated by its icon in the decorator as well as being noted in the description of each item, and whether it assumes a table is in front of the character.

HOW DO I PICK THE ANIMATION USED?
The game will randomly choose an animation supported by the particular piece of furniture you've activated. As shown in the demo video, switching to first person and back to third again while using the furniture will often pick a different animation; this only works while you have no "prop" in your hands, if the player is using a slate, cup etc. you'll need to get up and sit down again to randomly select another.

TECHNICAL
This mod adds a perk with an activate option for furniture (excluding things like the pilot seat, the rover, etc.) which sets the animation archetype of the player to neutral instead of AnimArchetypePlayer, and resets the animation flavor. This gets reset when the player leaves the furniture or if entry is unsuccessful. It sheathes the player's weapon, and auto switches to third person, also restoring the first person state after exiting if that was in use. The option is not displayed in zero gravity or while in combat. The force option works by adding keywords to furniture based on those already present and removing any that were added afterwards. Using the settings item to hide the activate option removes the perk from the player.
