About this mod

Starfield is set nearly 400 years after the first moon landing. Would the site of humanity's first step on the moon really have remained untouched for all that time?

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
Let's set expectations quickly - this seemed like an interesting way to learn more about Starfield modding. It adds a single location on Earth's moon. There is a building and small exterior to explore, but apart from some readable items and "environmental storytelling" and a few custom textures, there's nothing unique to discover - there's no (living) NPCs, no combat, no quests, and no unique gear (though you can hack a few thousand credits and there's a few randomly-filled crates and a fancy safe).

It also doesn't replace the game's original Apollo 11 site. I was going to, but I didn't want to mess up the snowglobe stuff and I wasn't sure how that would work in a save where the player had already been there.

But if you feel like checking out a new unique location, hey, enjoy it! And you might even learn something.

The Museum
In 2119 (the 150th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing), a museum is opened near the site. Its main purpose is to prevent further damage and vandalism to the site, though it does serve an educational purpose for tourists and researchers. One or two people at a time live on-site to keep the museum running and the building slowly grows more complex over the years.

A curator from Cydonia, Jadia Evans, takes over in late 2148 - shortly before the Earth's fate is discovered...

Stuff Worth Mentioning
  • It's not gonna be perfect! It's my first mod of this type and sounds and lights are pretty subpar. Somehow it gets dimmer inside during the daytime, for instance. But you have a flashlight! (Some lights are broken on purpose, though.) The navmesh might also not be perfect (i.e. companions sprinting off in random directions) but I think I fixed that. I also don't know why you can't wait on any of the chairs. And there's nothing inside the inaccessible living quarters at the end.
  • An inquisitive player may discover several references to a historical mystery. My original plan involved a quest about it, but in this version they're red herrings.
  • The key is hidden in the main lobby.
  • In version 1, I didn't include the custom terrain for the location, so everything was floating. While fixing that I ran into trouble with the custom textures which were showing up as black. I think this should also be fixed, but if there are a few conspicuous black areas in the museum, try copying the bhu_apollo folder from the main Data/Textures folder to "...My Games/Starfield/Data/Textures/". If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas, but you aren't missing that much.

Requirements
Just the base game. It should be safe to remove later, too. Or at least, I didn't have any issues.
