This mod is called WIll’s Enhanced Survey Tool (WEST) and it will solve the surveying problem by allowing you to fly above the landscape, controlled by your boost pack, and see an expanded landscape, highlighting all the resources below you. I have added the “Hold the Boost Button” setting to maintain flight and adjusted the scan range to preserve dps and potential CDT if you fly too high or too fast. I have also cleared the weather so you can see where you are going.
After finding the right spot, you float back to ground in God Mode to place your marker and avoid instant death. (See the attached video for a demonstration)
I mostly do videos on building factories on Outposts in Starfield or offering fixes for other mods. (youtube.com/@willny4). But I’m like a TV doctor in the Starfield modding community. It may look like I know what I am doing but I just follow the script. A mod published a year ago, Mineral Survey Mode, was my “script’ for this mod. It does roughly the same thing but I’ve modified and added many new features so that I can call it my own. The author permits changes if you acknowledge the original mod which I do now. Since this mod is not an organ transplant It should work pretty well for most players.
INSTALLATION OF BATCH FILES
The master file, (WillsEnhanced SurveyTool.7z) contains three .txt files:
WESTON.txt turns on the mod. Press scan and jump up; away you go.
WESTOFF1.txt turns off the mod and returns you to your previous settings
WESTOFF2.txt is an alternate ending that somewhat increases the span of your scanner and keeps the Hold for Boost button. If you tire of these changes, just run Bat WESTOFF1 twice and you will be back to normal.
To Install:
1. Manually download and unzip the Master file
2. Place the three .txt files into your Starfield folder (where the Starfield.exe is located)
3. Do a hard save.
4. In game open the Console (~) and type: Bat WESTON (don’t type.txt)
5. To exit open the Console (~) and type: Bat WESTOFF1
6. For the Alternative Ending open the console(~) and type:Bat WESTOFF2.
7. If you ever want to remove the mod just check that the settings are whatever you want and then just delete the txt files.
TWO NOTES OF CAUTION
1. Flying very high or moving too fast, particularly in daylight or if you have added denser environments, puts a strain on your system and may freeze the game. If this continues, you can go into the WESTON.txt file and reduce the speed and range settings. If it doesn’t work for you, WESTOFF1.txt should restore your default settings. After multiple on and offs you may find you are still in God mode. If so, type TGM in the console to disable it.
2, This mod makes no permanent changes to your player or settings..The changes it makes are all temporary and should only last as long as you are playing. Turn off the mod and everything should return to normal. If you exit the game without turning off the mod you may still have the player changes like speed increase, for example. If so, run either WESTOFF bat command twice and that should fix it.
As per the instructions, the safest thing is to do a save before scanning that you can return to if things go haywire.

An update from my video. Some of the expected resources on Andraphon and Linnaeus IV-B were missing from the planet/moon when I made the video. They have now been restored(?) as you can see from my photos and all is well. Sorry if I alarmed you.
